Objectives
1. By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils will be able to give simple personal information using basic
statements.
2. By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils will be able to understand with support the main idea of
simple sentences.
Activities
Pre-lesson:-
Clap twice and say a day of the week. E.g. Tuesday. The class claps twice and says Wednesday. Pupils
continue until they get to Monday.
Lesson development:-
1. Write days of the week on the board and under each board write an activity, e.g. go swimming, and
mime in. Point to each day and say, e.g. Monday, I go swimming.
2. Pupils prepare their stickers and look at them. Read the names aloud so pupils know what they sound
like.
3. Play the recording. Pupils choose the stickers and compare in pairs.(CD2 20)
4. Play the recording again and check with the class. Say each sentence for pupils to repeat.
5. Play the first sentences. Pupils repeat. (CD2 21)
6. Check their understanding that it is every Monday and that they say Mondays.
7. Play the second sentence. Pupils repeat and practise in pairs. (21st CA)
8. Pupils write the options for free time activities on the board. E.g. I play football on _____. Pupils ask and
answer about different days of the week. (HOTS)
9. Teacher distributes worksheet. (WB p59) (CBA)
Post-lesson:-
Mime one of the actions for students to guess. Pupils take turns to mime and guess in pairs.

very simple phrases and sentences.

Activities
Pre-lesson:-
Demonstrate the game. Mime six activities pupils write each one in their notebooks. They compare with a
partner and check each other spelling.
Lesson development:-
1. Pupils look at the picture in the Student’s Book. Elicit who they can see. Pre-teach busy.
2. Play the recording. Pupils follow the song in their Student’s Books.(CD2 23)
3. Play the recording. Pupils choose the stickers and compare in pairs.
4. Play the recording again, pausing after each verse for pupils to repeat.
5. When pupils have learnt the song, practise it with the whole class. Use the karaoke version of the song
for pupils to sing in groups. (21st CA)
6. Play the recording again. Pupils listen, read and point to the day of the week.
7. In pairs, they point to the pictures and say the days of the week. Elicit from the students what the
children are doing that day, e.g. On Saturday they sing.(HOTS)

Activities
Pre-lesson:-
Task 10 (with flashcards or realia of known words from the list)
Lesson development:-
1. Ask pupils to sit or stand in a circle. Place the flashcards/realia in the middle of the circle. Ask pupils to
point to the food they like.
2. Review the words by helping pupils to say I like x. or My favourite is x.
3. Ask pupils if they ate any of these foods this week. Ask them which day they ate it on.
4. Introduce the caterpillar. Ask pupils what it likes to eat. (HOTS)
5. Read the story (Very Hungry Caterpillar), asking questions to check understanding and using the images
to support understanding.
6. Ask pupils if their prediction about what the caterpillar eats were correct.
7. Write the days of the week on the board.
8. Repeat the story and encourage pupils to remember what the caterpillar eats on each day.(21st CA)
9. Pupils work in pairs or small groups to note in their exercise book what the caterpillar eats each day.
They could write the words or draw pictures, depending on the proficiency level of your class. (CBA)
