1. What is political science? (State the source / authority in the field who gave the definition.
- Political science, the systematic study of governance by the application of empirical and
generally scientific methods of analysis. As traditionally defined and studied, political science
examines the state and its organs and institutions. The contemporary discipline, however, is
considerably broader than this, encompassing studies of all the societal, cultural, and
psychological factors that mutually influence the operation of government and the body
politic.

2. Describe the terms politics, power, government (include etymology).


- Politics: Derived from the Greek word "polis," meaning city-state, politics refers to the
activities, actions, and policies used to gain and maintain power within a government or
organization.
Power: Originating from the Latin word "potere," meaning "to be able," power is the ability
to influence or control the behavior of others, whether through persuasion, coercion, or
authority.
Government: Rooted in the Latin word "gubernare," meaning "to steer" or "to govern,"
government is the system or organization through which political authority is exercised and
public policies are formulated and implemented.

3. Make a short description of the history of political science.


- Political science is originated in history, particularly in areas in Greece. The study of politics
was first developed by great minds of Plato and Aristotle. The 1800s marked the emergence
of political science. It began by the need of further investigating political matters and the
growing number of nations. The foundations of political studies were established by
prominent philosophers like Machiavelli, Locke, Rousseau, Montesquieu, and Hobbes.
Political science has expanded its areas of interest over time. These days, it covers topics
including worldwide interactions, political philosophy, managing public affairs, and political
comparison. Researchers in political science employ a variety of methods to look into
political issues in the present day. Their main objective is to enhance international legal
systems.
