I. Course Description:
English 10 strikes a balance among different text types from literary classics to quality informational
texts. The rich provision of the different genres for reading helps students hone their comprehension
skills and advance to a higher level by challenging them to adjust and shift understanding based on
the text type they are reading.

II. Objectives
At the end of the unit, the students will be able to:
▪ use a variety of argumentative writing techniques

▪ compose an argumentative essay

▪ critique a literary selection based on the following approaches:

▪ employ the techniques of effective public speaking
