TRAINER PROFILE

MD. REDZUAN BIN ZOOLFAKAR

MSc in Thermal Power & Fluid Engineering (University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) )
Bachelor in Management (Honours) (Multimedia University (MMU))
Diploma in Marine Engineering (Ungku Omar Polytechnics (PUO))

Mr. Md.Redzuan Bin Zoolfakar received his Diploma in Marine Engineering from Ungku Omar Polytechnics (PUO),
Malaysia. After received the diploma he sailed with steam ships as junior and fourth engineer with Malaysia
International Shipping Cooperation (MISC) for four years.

During that period, as a fourth Engineer, he involved with full charge on the main engine. His expertise is in Stall
Laval AP 45/108 geared Steam Turbines, two of Foster Wheeler ESD III, dual fire boilers single screw 45000 shp.
He obtained the Certificate of Competency Second Class (Steam) from Government of Malaysia under section 71
of the Merchant shipping Ordinance, 1952 and qualified as Second Engineer Foreign Going in 1997.

In 1998, he change in his career from marine field to education line by joining Malaysian Maritime Academy
(ALAM) as a lecturer in Marine Engineering Department. Subjects involved were Marine Engineering Knowledge
Steam, Thermodynamics, and Engineering Material and Workshop Practice.

To up-grade further his knowledge and improve his technical skill, he undergone shipbuilding and Quality
Management system Course conducted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for seven months,
from-January 9 until August 6,2001. Besides that, he also completed the postgraduate qualification, MSc in
Thermal Power and Fluid Engineering from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology
(UMIST) for a year from August 2002 until September 2003. Furthermore, he obtained his Bachelor in
Management (Honours) from Multimedia University (MMU) in 2005.

In April 2004, he decided to join a local University Institute of Marine Engineering Technology. As the Head of
Marine Engineering Technology Section there, he involved in managing the section and lecturing engineering
subjects at the same time. In order to further upgrade his knowledge in Marine Engineering, he have undergone
PhD study from Newcastle University and completed in July 2012.
