My name is Tereza Tomečková and hereby I am applying for the Erasmus+ program
to study at the University of Jyväskylä during the spring term of 2025.

I am currently in the second semester of my bachelor’s degree in Special Education

with a Specialization in Speech Therapy and Surdopedics at the Faculty of Pedagogy
, Masaryk University, Brno. I have completed one year of training in Pedagogy at the
Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, Brno, before changing to the Special Education
programme. I also completed a psychological course [name of the course].Having
studied for a year a general approach to pedagogical systems and methods I
developed a primary academic interest in pedagogic assistance to disadvantaged
children, particularly those with speech impediments. I worked with non-profit
organization Tratadadá as organizer of outdoor educational events and summer
camps for children in the age of 8 - 14, mostly with fantasy themes or elements of live
action role playing games. Besides that, I volunteered as a free time pedagog for
children in long-term care at [name of the hospital] in cooperation with non-profit
organization ADRA and helped to raise funds during annual event Bílá pastelka in
cooperation with non-profit organization Sons. I am currently working in a private
elementary school and kindergarten Basic in Brno as a daycare teacher and
substitute assistant. In the role of a daycare teacher my duties revolve around
organizing free time activities developing and supporting communication and
socializing skills. As a substitute assistant I have in my care a young epileptic. I am
observing his ability to focus, helping with confusion after petit mal and preventing
encounters triggering grand mal.

At the University of Jyväskylä in Finland, I want to take advantage of several specific

courses focusing on both general and specialized topics within the field of Special
Pedagogy, and focus on comparing special pedagogy systems and methodology in
Finland and Czech Republic, which is the topic of my bachelor thesis. Regarding the
courses, I am specifically interested in Perspectives on Special Education, which
among other things provides an overview of current literature, as secondary literature
in czech language is updated quite slowly and does not cover the actual state of
research. It also serves as a gate into the structure and methodology of special
pedagogy in Finland for the purpose of comparison with the system and methodology
in the Czech Republic. I also want to attend Developmental Language Related
Disorder, Creative and Intercultural Language Development and Special Education
Learning Environments, which are concerned not only with methods how work with
children with impaired communication and skills, but also with how to create healthy,
creative and safe space for both specialized and inclusive collectives for children with
communication impediments.

I already reached [full name and full list of degrees Heimovaara] from the Faculty of
Education and Psychology in order to discuss [specific academic interests,
consultation about specific topic]. Collaborating with [him? her?] presents a unique
opportunity to develop my research and publishing skills within the context of my
thesis.

Upon my return from my study abroad programme, I plan to apply the knowledge and
skills I have acquired to publishing activities. In the future, I also plan to apply for
doctoral studies and attend international conferences to maintain the contacts I have
established.

Nevím, zda je to na místě, ale můžeš ještě dopsat, že jsi ve spojení s nějakými lidmi, co v
Jyvaskylle už na Erasmu byli. Vím minimálně o dvou, co by Ti mohli dát nějaká praktická i
studijní doporučení. Možná by take neškodilo zmínit, že KSIP má s Jyvaskylou dlouhodobý
kontakt a vyučující Ti mohou domluvit exkurze přímo v nějakých zařízeních po známosti.
Naspoled jsem tam byla 2 roky zpět s Pančochou a Vrubelem, vím ale, že tam má nějakou
