Bhilwara district is hub for Textile Industry in Rajasthan.

Textile operations such as

spinning, weaving, and processing are carried out in the mills in Bhilwara. At present
in Rajasthan there are 42 mills with capacity of 22 lakhs spindles and out of these 11
lakhs spindles are in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan accounting 50% of installed
spinning capacity as per MCCI data. Apart from this the state also has 37648 rotors
installed out of which 31352 rotors are in Bhilwara district.

The major players in the Bhilwara district are BSL Ltd., Nitin Spinners, Shivam
Snycotex Pvt. Ltd., Sudiva Spinners etc.

With regards to cotton yarn, the most preferred counts are the 30s and 40s, and also
have fine counts. The mills export around 60-70% of total production to more than 20
countries. In the preceding five years, Rajasthan has come up with various brown-
field projects, i.e., expansions in the existing mills and green field projects. In FY24,
BSL Ltd started a new unit with 30,000 spindles capacity.

Under the Rajasthan Government’s RIPS policy, a special textile package is offered
whereby the mills are given an interest subsidy for 7 years. The Rajasthan
Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS 2019) is in operation till 2024. Under the
scheme, the mills can avail of concession on stamp duty on setting up a new unit,
electricity duty for 7 years, PF ESI benefits for 7 years, etc.

On account of policy support from Government of Rajasthan, the textile mills have
been able to sustain the slowdown in the recent past due to reduction in export
volumes.

In the year 2022-23, the export of cotton yarn reduced by 52.17% to 6.65 lakh MT
compared to 13.98 lakh MT in 2021-22. This has affected the spinning mills across
the India.

Further, the exports are projected at 12 lakh MT for FY 23-24 as per the CMIE data.
