MODULE 3-10 : CONTACTING BRANDS

BRAND CONTACT REBUTTAL BOOK

Q: “WHERE DO YOU SELL?”
A: “we’re an ecommerce business, we sell online primarily. Do you
work with any online accounts? And if you so, does your company
have a MAP policy which is enforced?”
A: “We’re primarily an online retailer. We sell on a number of the
major marketplaces as well as on our own website. Does your
company work with any ecommerce customers, and do you guys
have any sort of MAP policy or anything?”
A: “We have a number of different channels, but the bulk of our
business comes from our website/online.”
A: “Most of our sales come from our own website at
www.yourwebsite.com”

Q: “DO YOU HAVE A RETAIL STORE?”

A: “No, not at the moment. Right now we’re just focused on
growing our online sales. Does your company work with any online
accounts?”
A: “No, not right now. We’re more focused on growing our website
and online business. Do you work with accounts who sell online?”
A: “No, not at the moment. We have a commercial location, but it’s
more of a warehouse that handles our shipping & receiving.”
A: “No store, just a website. We do everything online.”
A: “No we don’t, maybe in the future. Right now we’re doing more
online than we ever would in a brick & mortar so I’m just focused on
that.”

Q: “DO YOU HAVE A WEBSITE?”

A: “Yes, it’s…….”
A: “No, not yet. We’re working on one, but it’s not live yet”
A: “No, not yet. Right now we’re primarily selling on the marketplaces
like Amazon and eBay and focusing on growing that.”

Q: “DO YOU SELL ON AMAZON?”

A: “Yes, of course. Amazon is one of our largest sales channels. Do
you work directly with any Amazon sellers, and if you do, does your
company have a MAP policy that you make sellers follow?”
A: “Yes, we do, but we also sell on our own website and try to drive
traffic there. We also will sell on Walmart, eBay, Amazon in
Germany and the UK. We’re more than just an “Amazon seller”.
Does your company have any sort of MAP or Amazon policy?”
MODULE 3-10 : CONTACTING BRANDS

COMMON AMAZON PROBLEMS FOR BRAND OWNERS

• Lots of unknown & unauthorized sellers
• Sellers killing the price of their products
• Sellers violating MAP policy
• Retail brick & mortar accounts are upset with Amazon sales
• Listings not optimized
• No customer service / No one replying to negative feedback
• Poor content not representing their brand properly
• No one actively helping them grow their brand and market
share on Amazon

MAKING INITIAL CONTACT

After initial contact, brands will either tell you how to open an
account, or respond with questions.

If a brand sends you a new account application, a pricelist or

reseller agreement, check everything for any policies that prevent
you from selling on online. If there are no policies against this and
they don’t bother to bring it up, you shouldn’t either.

However, most brands will respond with “where do you sell?”, “do
you sell on Amazon?”, or another question designed to weed out
unwanted sellers. In the next few slides we’ll go over some of the
most common examples.
