Why This Lesson

In this lesson, we will familiarize ourselves with the introduction to the


psychology of learning and instruction. We will explore the definitions and
correlations between psychology, instruction, learning, and spirituality in
learning.

Overview:

The term psychology of learning is a combination of psychology, education, and


learning. It is a distinct scientific discipline that includes both methods of study
and knowledge base, concerned primarily with understanding the process of
teaching and learning that takes place within formal environments and
developing ways of improving those methods.

The important topic includes learning theories, teaching methods, instruction,


motivation, cognitive, emotional, and moral development as well as parent-child
relationships.

Psychology of learning draws heavily from various branches of psychology,


biology, sociology, and anthropology. It is concerned with the learning situations
and processes by which learning can be more efficient and effective. It is a
science of education dealing primarily with the how the when and the what of
education.
