● Meaning of Integers
● Meaning of Multiplication and Division Integers
● Rules for multiplying and dividing integers
● Examples of problems involving multiplication and division
of integers
Discussion:
Lesson Proper ● The word integer originated from the Latin word
“Integer” which means whole or intact. Integers is a
special set of numbers comprising zero, positive
numbers and negative numbers.
○ Zero is neither a positive nor a negative
integer. It is a neutral number i.e. zero has no
sign (+ or -).
○ The positive integers are the natural numbers
or also called counting numbers.
○ The negative integers are the negative of
natural numbers.
Multiplication of Integers
Negative ( –2 x 5 = –10).
● Other Example:
3 x -7 x 2 = - 42
-3 x 5 x -1 x 2 = 30
Division of Integers
(–16 ÷ 8 = –2).
● Other Example
-42 ÷ -7 = 6
Application A 15 × 2 ÷ 5 = C -14 × 2 =
I -85 × 9 = A 15 ÷ 15 ×15 =
E -369 ÷ 9 = S -36 ÷ -6 =
T -40 ÷ -4 = M 22 × 5 =
M 69 ÷ -3 = H 3 × 3 ÷ 3=
T 16 ÷ -2 =
