Abstract:
This research paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the ecological condition of a specific pond
ecosystem. The study employs various scientific methods to assess the water quality, biodiversity,
and overall health of the pond. This paper will try to analyse the condition physical and biological
condition. The findings provide valuable insights into the current state of the pond and its ecological
condition.

Introduction

Ponds play a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance of the environment. They serve as a
habitat for a diverse range of flora and fauna, contributing significantly to local biodiversity. The
ecological condition of a pond is determined by 3 parameters.

1. Physical Parameters: Physical parameters are determined by looks, colour, and smell.

2. Chemical Parameters: Includes pH, Total dissolved solid, BOD, COD etc.

3. Biological Parameters: Includes counts of variety of fish, insects and other species.

This paper will try to measure some of the parameters and will try to analyse some of the
parameters of water through various measures.

Method:

For the experiment I have chosen the lake located at Ramna Park, Dhaka. Ramna park, located at
Moulana Bhashani Road, numerous variety of plants, small animals, birds, and insects. Middle of
the park is located a lake that covers 8.76 meters. (Pasha et al., 2021)

To test the ecological condition of the pond, first I will measure physical parameter meters of the by
checking the colour and odour of the water.

To the test the biological measure I will take the number of different living species available in the
lake.

Observation:

I went to Ramna park at 9 am in the morning. Following observation has been made.

 The colour of the lake water was green and the lake was surrounded by big trees

 There was no noticeable odour in the lake

 There was enough sunlight reaching the lake.

Hypothesis

Based on my observations, I am making the hypothesis that the ecological condition of the lake was
suitable for living.

Experiment

Materials:

1. A net for catching fishes

2. A bucket for holding the fishes

Procedure:

I went to the lake with my friend and a person who was hired for catching fishes in the pond.

We stirred the pond mildly and then threw the net. After the haul we put it in the bucket for the
count. Then we record it.

Result

Conclusion
From the data above and observations made we can conclude that the pond is very good ecological
condition.
The hypothesis is not rejected.

Limitations
I could not measure the chemical parameters due to limited technology.
I also could not measure bacteria and other small creatures.
