PCA-Choosing an Organization Worksheet

Worksheet Objectives:
1. Identify an organization and situation you want to study over the remainder of the course.
2. Describe the organization and the situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Name and describe your organization.

For this assignment I am going to study a situation from the Salvation Army.
Salvation Armey Is a charitable organization headquartered in London. There goal
is to help those in need. They provide different ways to donate so everyone can have
access to helping the organization make a difference. With over 8,000 donation
centers and many volunteers the organization is able to help millions in need.

Describe your role in the organization (it can be an internal or external role).

For this analysis I will be taking on an external role with the organization. Getting
to work with the organization allows me the ability to assist the non profit
organization while getting to work with leaders with different experiences. I am a
coordinator with my family store. We work with different organizations to try and
give back to the community and those in need. We do this by working with local
venodrs, getting donations and spreading information about the organization.
Focusing on The Salvation Army, we are working with them, giving them 15 percent
of the earnings from local vendors donations to our store.

2) Describe the situation, including information you think the will help the reader
understand the most important elements of the situation. (This will require
selectivity: part of the art of case writing is separating the essential facts from the
mass of information that might be included).

The situation at hand here is regarding the work with The Salvation Army, the family
business, and local vendors. With many parties involved things can get tricky. What we
see here is trouble with communication, differences in goals and expectations, and
deliverables. Throughout the course of the month working with the organization and the
local vendors some confusion occurred and we are working on getting it resolved.
