Descriptivestatisticssummarizedatafromasampleorapopulationusingindexessuchasth
emean,median,mode,standarddeviation,range,frequency,andpercentage.Theyalsousecharts
andgraphstoshowthedistribution,relationship,ortrendofthedata.Descriptivestatisticshelptod
escribethebasicfeaturesofthedataandprovideasimpleoverviewofthedata.
Inferentialstatisticsdrawconclusionsfromdatathataresubjecttorandomvariation,sucha
ssamplingerrorsorobservationalerrors.Theyusetechniquessuchashypothesistesting,confiden
ceintervals,correlation,regression,ANOVA,andchi-
squaretesttoinferthecharacteristicsofapopulationfromasample,ortocomparetwoormorepop
ulationsorgroups.Inferentialstatisticshelptotesthypotheses,estimateparameters,andmakepr
