Avoid High-Pressure Fluids

Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin


causing serious injury.

Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before

disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all
connections before applying pressure.

Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands

and body from high pressure fluids.

If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluid


injected into the skin must be surgically removed within a
few hours or gangrene may result. Doctors unfamiliar with
this type of injury should reference a knowledgeable
medical source. Such information is available from Deere
& Company Medical Department in Moline, Illinois, U.S.A.

Park Machine Safely

Before working on the machine:

• Lower all equipment to the ground.


• Stop the engine and remove the key.
• Disconnect the battery ground strap.

IMPORTANT: Do not damage OD or ID of new seal


during installation. Installation tool
MUST be used to install lip seal.

Lube seals with hydraulic oil prior to
installation.

18. Install lip seals (16) using JDG 734 Seal Installation
Tool (6 and 7).

19. Put lip seal (16) on end of tool driver (7) with open 16
side of seal away from tool driver.

20. Carefully slide sleeve (6) over lip seal and driver with
raised lip of sleeve away from driver. Do not push lip
seal through sleeve. 7

21. Put tool assembly over spool with raised lip into
counterbore of valve section.

22. Push driver (7) to install lip seal into valve housing.

23. Spin tool driver (7) 180 degrees and hold down for
several seconds. This will allow air to escape and

seal will seat in valve counter bore.

NOTE: Check lip seal that is has not extruded out of


counter bore before installing wiper seal, if lip seal 12
has extruded reinstall using JDG734 Seal
Installation Tool. Do not use JDG734 Seal
Installation Tool to install wiper seal, install wiper
seal by hand. 13

24. Install wiper seals (15) by hand over top of spool,


push down until flush with top of control valve
housing.

25. Install seal plates (13) using new socket head cap
screws (12).

26. Install base (4) using socket head cap screws (3).
Tighten cap screws (3 and 12) to specification.

27. Once cap screws are tightened to specification, rotate
spools to make sure they spin freely in bores. If they
do not, loosen socket head cap screws and retighten.

If spools still do not rotate freely, the lip seal has
rolled and will have to be replaced.

28. Install bellcranks (1 and 5) using new lock nuts (14). Lip and Wiper Seal Installation (Upper)

29. Install bellcranks to base using socket head cap


screw (2) and new lock nut (17). Tighten lock nut to
specification.

Specification
Bellcrank to Base Lock Nut—
Torque ............................................................................................ 19 N•m
168 lb-in.

30. Install linkage to bellcranks and install pins. Install


loader boom linkage rod to boom spool.

31. Remove caps (21) and shoulder cap screws (20) from
bottom of stabilizer spools.

IMPORTANT: When installing bottom lip seals wait for


oil to stop running from spool bore, oil
will fill the U cup, trapping air, causing
the spools to bind.

32. Install new lip seals (16) and wiper seals (15) using

same procedure used for installing top spool seals.

33. Install new seal plates (13), spring retainers (18), 13
springs (19), and shoulder cap screws (20). Tighten
shoulder cap screws (20) to specification.
