CAD Assignment 1: Grip vice assembly parts Total Marks: 20

You are required to:

1. Create the Base and Lever parts of the Grip vice assembly shown above,
a. The parts must be created according to the dimensions given overleaf.
b. Dimension “Tangent” for a part must be set by you to create a smooth tangent
structure.
(HINT: Make use of the Tangent function within Solid Edge)
c. Dimensions “A 1”, “A 2”, “B 1” and “B 2” are individual dimensions and have been
placed on Ulwazi.

d. Note: If your part looks slightly different compared to the images above, this is due to
your specific given dimensions.
2. Create drawings of your Base and Lever parts, and fully dimension them (12 marks for the
Base and 8 marks for the Lever with accompanying dimensions)
a. These drawings MUST be created on a drawing file within Solid Edge (named as your
student number).
b. You must create the same views as those given overleaf for each part.
c. You must use appropriate scales to ensure that all the required views of both parts fit
on a single sheet. Different scales may be used for each part.
3. Export your drawing file to a PDF and name it as your student number
4. You must submit the PDF and all of your CAD files on Ulwazi
a. Ulwazi submissions will only be opened at a later stage and further instruction
willbe given in this regard
