Introduction
Paragon is a Kerala based Footwear manufacturing brand founded in 1975.They
mainly manufacture Rubber Hawai, Polyurethane (PU) and polyvinyl Chloride
(PVC), Air Max, Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate (EVA), Thermo Plastic Rubber (TPR)
and Canvas material footwear. With a starting manufacturing capacity of 1500
pairs of footwear per day in 1975, paragon recorded a production capacity of over
400,000 pairs of plastic and rubber footwear in the year 2016.Paragon has also
outsourced production of footwear in Bangalore, Calcutta, Kottayam and other
parts of the country. The total sales are approximated to 14,00,00,000 pairs each
year.

Problem Statement
Paragon faced the issue of unexpected delay due to vehicle breakdown or wrong
routes taken that was leading to unpleasant incidents. Since footwear is a
distributor-retailer led business therefore it is very important that supplies reach the
market on time.

Solution
Paragon searched for an IoT based solution to remotely track and monitor its
inventories in real time to prevent vehicle misuse, idle time in logistics chain and
driver behavior. After research, paragon decided to implement the Aeris solution
across its nationwide fleet. Aeris which is an IoT technology partner for enterprises
is provided a contract by SIFY which is an Information and Communications
Technology (ICT) solutions and service leader which delivers IoT solutions to their
customers like Paragon.

Relation with Operations Management
The strategy formulation process of operations management is involved in this case
which involves use of IoT solutions by paragon for configuring an operations
system and establishing relevant measures for operational excellence. Aeris has

remote monitoring of machines, equipments and other assets alongwith enabling
predictive and preventive maintenance of various products and assets within
enterprises.
