Subject & Level: ____MAPEH 6 __________ Prepared by: Mr. Christian Lyle Torres_______
Schedule: ____Second Quarter (W1-W2) ____

Introduction
Most of the modern paintings today are produced or modified using computer technology. Paintings are
now influenced by the graphic use of computers that have replaced traditional methods of painting. This helps
save resources that are usually used in traditional paintings, such as acrylic paint, oil, ink, and many others.

Learning Objectives
After completing the module on Digital Painting and Origin of Maglalatik, learners from Grade 6 should be able to:

 Realize that art processes, elements, and principles still apply even with the use of new technologies
 Appreciate the elements and principles applied in digital art
 Create a digital painting
 Discuss the characteristics and origin of the dance Maglalatik
 Describe the skill involved in the dance
 Execute the different skills involved in the dance

1.1.2 Lesson Proper (Synchronous Day 1 – 30 minutes)

Digital Painting
Digital painting is a method of using traditional painting medium such as watercolor, acrylic paint, oils,
and ink, then applying them using a computer software.
As a painting technique, digital painting refers to the use of a computer graphic software, and making use
of a virtual canvas and virtual painting materials such as paint brushes with different strokes, colors in various
shades, and other necessary resources used in painting. Though digital painting has some similarities with actual
painting, the computer software that is used in digital painting still contains many instruments that do not exist
outside the computer. This gives a digital artwork a different look and feel from an artwork made the traditional
way.

A digital painting is stored on a computer's hard disk, which can then be printed on paper or canvas. A
traditional painting, on the other hand, does not need a hard disk because the artist paints directly on the canvas.

Aside from this, the option of undoing a certain action or a series of steps is
impossible in a traditional painting something that is an easy task to do in digital painting
The characteristics of a digital painting are transparency, symmetry, distortion, repetition, and texture. It
is important to keep these factors in mind in order to successfully create a digital painting.

1.2 Origin of Maglalatik

Introduction
Balance and body coordination are required for everyday tasks. They are also important in training for
skills in dancing. In Maglalatik, using baos or coconut shells that are positioned in different areas of the body
needs coordination of the hands and feet. The rhythmic pattern in the dance is provided by the clicks and strokes

Origin of Maglalatik

During the Spanish regime, the present barrios of Lorna and Zapote of Biñan, Laguna were separated with
coconut shells as implements. The people of these two barrios used to dance the Maglalatik or Magbabao, a war dance
depicting a fight between the Moros and the Christians over the latik, the residue left after coconut milk has been
boiled.

The first two parts of the dance, the Palipasan and the Baligtaran, show the heated encounter between the two
groups. The last two parts, the Paseo and the Sayaw Escaramus, show the reconciliation between the two groups,
According to the legend, the Moros came out victorious; therefore getting the coveted latik. The Christians, not
contented with the result of the war, sent an envoy to the Moros to offer peace and to baptize them.

The best dancers are found in Zapote. They go from house to house performing the dance in exchange for
money or gift. in the evening, they dance the Maglalatik in the religious procession as it moves along the streets. They
perform the dance as an offering to the patron saint of the farmers, San Isidro labrador.
