In December 2006, I went to Doha to par- ticipate in the 2006 Asian Games, taking
part in the Beach Volleyball Championship, We prepared for a long time, training hard
and fighting for approval of our participation. Nothing was easy. My partner, Clara,
my coach, King, and I were aiming to get into the top 8 at the Asian Games.

Unfortunately, I sprained my ankle one week before departure, which frustrated me

beyond belief. I had physiotherapy every day following the injury, and tried to recover
as quickly as possible. Of course, the ankle could not heal completely in a few days, so
I had no choice but to just try my best and have my ankle taped when I played in
matches.

We played against teams from Thailand, Mongolia, and Malaysia. The most
difficult and important match was that against the Malaysian team. We planned well
for the match and tried our very best. But finally we lost to them and ranked 9. It was
so close: we nearly reached our goal to be among the first 8 teams.

Spanish thief saw himself as Robin Hood-like bandit

Madrid (Reuters) - Spain’s most wanted thief, “The Loner.” saw himself as a
Robin Hood-style figure and said he robbed banks only because they stole money from
the public, his lawyer said Thursday.

Accused of killing three policemen and holding up more than 30 banks, Jaime
Jimenez Arbe was planning to move on to insurance companies when he was arrested
last month, Spanish media reported, citing lawyer Jose Mariano Trillo-Figueroa.

“I am not a killer and if I was obliged to shoot at officers of the law, it was always
against my will and in order to avoid being arrested,” Jimanez said in a letter
reproduced on the websites of new spapers El Pais and El Mundo. Trillo-Figueroa said

Land reclamation

Land reclamation will definitely increase land area for a certain country. More land
has been made available for development. More buildings and infrastructure can be
built.

However, much greenery has been removed in order for the land needed. Land
reclamation can be damaging to corals and marine life. Corals are usually moved to
another place when land is to be reclaimed. The corals might not be able to survive in
that certain habitat, and thus die out. In some countries, where the project is large-
scale, they do not even bother to re-plant the corals elsewhere, instead just reclaim the
land on their habitat, causing them to die out immediately. Marine life, such as fish,
might not have enough food after the underwater plantations are destroyed due to
reclamation of land. This applies to the food chain. The water might also be polluted
from the soil used to reclaim land, causing the fish to die and blocking out sunlight,
depriving the underwater plants of growth. Marine habitat are also destroyed;
therefore, the marine creatures would be forced to move to another new habitat. Some
might not be able to adapt, and thus die out. Some would just die without even finding
a new habitat, as they cannot move long distance in water.

Finally, the reasons and examples look tempting to humans, but marine life is life
too! We should try to protect it as much possible, instead of just focusing on the
advantages.
