The Blake Mouton Managerial Grid - From MindTools.pdf

Guideline
Understand that different environments lead to different leadership styles and it depends on the manager and the staff.

Ask them:
1. "Where do you think Produce or Perish / Authority-obedience management occurs" (outside our organisation and in
out organisation)
2. "Where do you think Country club management occurs" (outside our organisation and in out organisation)
3. "Where do you think High Team management concern management occurs" (outside our organisation and in out
organisation)

Answer 1: Sweatshops, Diodes (?) High turn over organisations / Low competency / Low autonomy.
Answer 2: Google, (?) High competency / High autonomy.
Answer 3: ???

Just because a manager focuses on certain areas doesn't mean it's wrong.

Why do we do this model?

Why do we do this model?

To align the periods of 1970-1980's of low compentency and high directive managers and reflect with
today's competency.

We need to make a mental shift from the directive manager to the collaborative manager. First we need
to show the history and how and why it can work, but may not work in the past.
