PREFACE

Miale Security Institute (MSI) assessment criteria is a standardized


measure of successful conduct of Recruit Private Security Officers
(PSOs) Level 1 training that is adhered to right from admission to
pass out parade. It covering definite stages of evaluation.
Entry Requirements
This is done during the selection and enrolment process. It
entails verification of entry requirements as outline by PSRA that
includes; documents, Medical and Physical fitness test.
Aptitude Test Commented [DKY1]:

These questions designed to assess a candidate's aptitude,


problem-solving abilities, ethics, and suitability for a private
security officer position. During this test, candidates' responses
and their ability to apply knowledge and skills in real-world
security scenarios is gauged.

1. Logical Reasoning:

If the patrol route covers 3 buildings in sequence and you


start at Building A, which building would you reach after
completing the route?
A) Building B
B) Building C
C) Building D
D) Building A

2. Numerical Aptitude:

You are monitoring a parking lot with a capacity of 250


vehicles. There are currently 120 cars parked. How many more
vehicles can the parking lot accommodate?
A) 130
B) 250
C) 120
D) 380
3.Reading Comprehension:

Read the following security policy excerpt and answer the


question: "Access to the premises is restricted after 10:00 PM.
What does this mean for security officers?"
A) Security officers can leave their posts after 10:00 PM.
B) Security officers should increase vigilance and restrict access to
authorized personnel only after 10:00 PM.
C) Security officers have unrestricted access to the premises after
10:00 PM.
D) Security officers are not allowed on the premises after 10:00
PM.

4. Problem Solving:

You encounter a situation where an individual is causing a


disturbance at the entrance of a secured facility. How would
you handle this situation? Provide a step-by-step response.

5. Situational Judgment:
You notice a suspicious bag left unattended in a public area of
the facility you are securing. What immediate actions would you
take?
A) Ignore it and continue patrolling.
B) Report it to the authorities.
C) Open the bag to investigate its contents.
D) Move the bag to a less crowded area.

6. Ethical Dilemma:
You observe a fellow security officer taking unauthorized breaks
during their shift. What would you do in this situation, and
why?
7. Verbal Communication:

Explain the importance of clear and effective verbal


communication in a security officer's role.

8. Observation Skills:
Describe three key details you would look for when conducting
a routine perimeter check of a building during your shift.

9. Emergency Response:
Outline the immediate steps you would take if you received a
fire alarm notification while on duty.

10.Conflict Resolution:

Provide an example of a conflict you have encountered in a


previous role, and explain how you successfully resolved it.
