EULOGY

HISTORY OF MWALIMU WILLIAM MULONGO WAKHONYA

BIRTH

The late Mwalimu Mulongo Wakhonya was born on 1st April 1952 of the Abasonjo
clan in Malichi Village, Chimuche area as the last-born son of the late mzee
Zebedayo Weramoyo and the late Sarah Naliaka of the Abatovo clan

The late Mwalimu William Mulongo was a brother to the late


Busolo ,Shiune ,Recha ,Katamu,Juma,Mukhwana and Shikuku .

The sisters are Vakhonya, Nambuye,Tsininga ,Khanyifu ,Waronya ,khanali ,Anyiko


and Fesa

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND/JOURNEY

The late Mwalimu Mulongo Wakhonya began his education in 1960 at Lugusi
primary for A & B under Mwalimu Sikolia Mulievi.Thereafter he joined standard
one at Lugusi primary in 1961, Later he joined Kakoyi primary and sat for his CPE
exams and excelled well. On the year 1971 he joined Mwihila secondary school.
He later sat for his form four exams in 1974 and letter joined Siriba TTC to study
as a p1 teacher and graduated in 1977

INITIATION

The late Mwalimu Wakhonya Underwent his initiation in the year 1964 of the age
set of Elijah
MARRIAGE

The late Mwalimu Wakhonya got married to his first wife Jane Inyanji in 1977 and
were blessed with one boy child and separated, he married his second wife in 1980
Rachael Ongoche Omenda and they were blessed with 7 children, he got his third
wife Scholastica Mwimali and they were blessed with one boy child.

The late had 9 children in total namely;

Protus, Sarah, Duncan, Moses, Mark, Vincent, Christine, Esther and Phanice.

He had 21 grandchildren

CHURCH HISTORY

The late Mwalimu William Mulongo Wakhonya grew up the hands of Christian
parents and he was introduced to the Christian faith as a young child in 1956 in
Kolinya (orthodox church)

By 1967, the name changed to Devine Christian Church of which later became the
African Devine church

The late Mwalimu Mulongo Wakhonya was baptized on the 26th of November
1967 soon after receiving Jesus Christ as His personal lord and saviour. He served
the lord dearly and was gifted in music and served in the church choir for many
years. He was a prayer warrior and interceded for his immediate and longer family
diligently taking time in praying for his family and friends

EMPLOYMENT
The late Mwalimu Wakhonya was employed in 1977 and served at Mugunga
primary school, Mbagara ,Machemo,Chiveli,Wavoka and Namtala till retirement in
the year 2014.The late Mwalimu was also a dedicated businessman and also served
as a secretary to the community based organization also as a vice chairman of
Jitolee self-help group and vice chair of the Chisambo family .He was very diligent
committed and devoted throughout his career

PERSONALITY

He was a human being and not perfect like all of us. But these are the things that he
stood by throughout his character. He enjoyed a neatly laugh when he heard or saw
something amusing. Equally he would cry and empathize with the hurting. He was
very sensitive and a proactive of the family. William was an introvert slow to speak
even when angry and yet he was forthright and honest enough to speak his mind.
He was ever appreciative of the little things whenever he received anything big or
small from someone. He would really be appreciative and thankful. He loved and
served God and humanity through ministry and his teaching career. He loved God
so dearly and lived for him evidently.

AILMENT

The late Mwalimu Mulongo Wakhoya began complaining of body weakness as


from October 2023 as from there he was taken to Webuye for medical checkup
where the doctor suggested for further tests. He was referred to Surgical solutions
hospital in Kakamega for the tests where he was diagnosed with hemorrhoids and
went through medication. After a short while the conditioned worsened whereby
the late began swelling the body and was taken to Moi teaching and referral
hospital for further checkup where he was diagnosed with heart failure.

His condition rapidly worsened and he was called home on Saturday 13th April
2024 at 10pm.

The lord gives and takes away, Blessed be his name.
