REPORT
LAB 2. CURRENT AND VOLTAGE IN A CIRCUIT
Exercise 1. Investigate the current and voltage properties of a circuit in Figure 1 by utilizing
Ohm’s Law, with R1 = 10 kΩ, R2 = 1 kΩ, R3 = 10 kΩ, R4 = 1 kΩ, R5 = 330 Ω, Vs = 5V.

Figure 1. The considered circuit to investigate Ohm’s Law

Current (mA)

Exact Theoretical
Observations
value (Ω) Computations
R1 10010 0.25 0.25
R2 982 2.50 2.56
R3 10060 0.25 0.25
R4 978 2.50 2.56
R5 327 0.00 0.00
Voltage (V)

Exact Theoretical
Observations
value (Ω) Computations
R1 10010 2.5 2.490
R2 982 2.5 2.490
R3 10060 2.5 2.498
R4 978 2.5 2.497
R5 327 0.0 0.000

Conclusion:
- The observations are approximately the same as the theoretical computations, with a
margin of error of 0.01 at maximum.
- There is no electricity between node B and D as R1/R2 = R3/R4

Exercise 2. Investigate the current and voltage properties of a circuit in Figure 2 by utilizing the
Kirchhoff’s Laws, with R1 = 1 kΩ, R2 = 330 Ω, R3 = 1 kΩ, R4 = 330 Ω, R5 = 10 kΩ, R6 = 1 kΩ,
R7 = 330 Ω, R8 = 330 Ω, Vs = 5V

Figure 2. The considered circuit to investigate Kirchhoff’s Laws

Resistors Exact Value Current (mA) Voltage (V)
R1 10010 3.17 3.155
R2 327 3.17 1.047
R3 982 0.81 0.782
R4 325 2.39 0.782
R5 10060 0.47 4.690
R6 978 0.12 0.116
R7 326 0.35 0.116
R8 327 0.47 0.155

At the node A: Is = I5 + I12  Is – I5 – I12 = 0

At the node B: Is = I6 + I7  Is - I6 - I7 = 0
At the node C: I6 + I7 = I8  I8 - I7 - I8 = 0
At the node D: Is = I3 + I4 + I8  Is - I3 - I4 - I8 = 0
At the node E: I2 = I3 + I4  I2 - I3 - I4 = 0
U1 = VR1 + VR2 + VR3 - Vs = 4.894 (V) - 5 ≈ 0 (V)
U2 = VR5 + VR6 + VR8 - Vs = 4.922 (V) - 5 ≈ 0 (V)
U3 = VR5 + VR7 + VR8 - Vs = 4.922 (V) - 5 ≈ 0 (V)
U4 = VR1 + VR2 + VR4 - Vs = 4.894 (V) - 5 ≈ 0 (V)
Conclusion:
- The result is matched with Kirchhoff’s law.
