GEOG 112: INTRODUCTION TO HUMAN GEOGRAPHY (3 CREDITS)

ANSWER THREE QUESTIONS, INCLUDING AT LEAST ONE FROM EACH SECTION.

TIME ALLOWED: TWO & A HALF (2 %) HOURS

SECTION A

1. Describe the concept of urbanization and explain four (4) major factors that influence urban

growth in the least developed countries.

2. Discuss tive (5) roles of the plantation agriculture in the Tropics.

3. With relevant examples, explain the causes of rural-urban migration in Ghana and suggest four

(4) measures that could be adopted to reduce it.

SECTION B
4. Discuss the various stages in the demographic transition model.

5. With the use of relevant examples, discuss any four (4) challenges confronting the

manufacturing sector of Ghana.

6. ‘Environmental degradation is reduction in the ability ofthe environment to fulfil its functions’.

Discuss with reference to any typepof environmental degradation of your choice and suggest

three (3) measures to mitigate the menace.
