Executive summary
Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) is a prominent public institution
in Bangladesh, focusing on science, engineering, and technology education. Established in 2001
under Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University Act, 2001, it offers undergraduate,

Introduction
Mawlana Bhashani Science & Technology University (MBSTU) is a specialized public university
in Bangladesh, focusing on science, technology, and business. Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina laid the foundation-stone of MBSTU at Santosh, Tangail in 1999. The university was
approved by the Bangladesh National Parliament in 2001 under Mawlana Bhashani Science and
Technology University Act, 2001 and opened its doors on 25 October 2003. Named after Mazlum
Jononeta Mawlana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, the university is known for its commitment to
scientific and technological education. With a total of 815 students enrolled annually, MBSTU has
expanded its offerings to 19 departments under six faculties. The university is accredited by the
Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) and the Institution of Textile Engineers and
Technologists. MBSTU's campus is located in Santosh, southwestern part of the Tangail district,
and offers a large, beautiful campus with modern facilities and amenities. It has seven hostels, a
library with an extensive collection of books, journals, and digital resources, research facilities,
modern lab facilities, auditoriums, a medical center, and transportation services. MBSTU
encourages students and faculty members to engage in innovative projects and scholarly activities.
The university organizes seminars, conferences, and workshops to promote knowledge exchange
and collaboration among students and researchers. In 2020, MBSTU was ranked first among all
universities in Bangladesh based on Scimago Institutions Rankings. The university also has its
own online journal, Journal of Science & Technology. In addition to academic pursuits, MBSTU
offers various extracurricular activities, including career clubs, cultural clubs, sports clubs, and
social welfare organizations.

Objective
The main objective of this research is to present a thorough overview of Mawlana Bhashani
Science & Technology University (MBSTU), covering its history, mission, and vision, as well as
the various scientific and technology fields it provides.

Literature Review
There is currently no literature review because no previous research has been conducted
specifically on Mawlana Bhashani Science & Technology University (MBSTU). As a result, no
context for any previously published studies could be offered.

Methodology
This study relies heavily on secondary data pertaining to MBSTU. Secondary data and information
have been acquired via Internet searches, books, and journals, among other sources. Primary data
and information were also gathered through observation and interviewing.

Planning: Before I begin writing on this term paper, I establish a plan for how I would approach
it.
Requirement: After planning, I must work based on my plans.
Data collection: Following my plan and requirements, I began working on this term paper and
began gathering data. There is no primary data. I solely acquire data from secondary sources. I
utilized the internet to research this issue. As this is a term paper about "MBSTU," I used references
from the university website, Wikipedia, and other sources. This term paper's information is entirely
derived from secondary sources, such as numerous links, online sites, and books.
Data analysis: After gathering data, I begin analyzing it. I remove and process the data for analysis.
Result: After gathering and evaluating appropriate data, I will be able to create our term paper.

Main Part
Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University is named after Mawlana Abdul Hamid
Khan Bhashani, a well-known political leader and philosopher in Bangladesh. Today's MBSTU is
the result of a long-ago fantasy he had. Mawlana Bhashani wished to build a university that would
educate its pupils to be self-sufficient, honest, and hardworking people. He had suggested the name
"Islamic University" for this university. Unfortunately, his worries about the Islamic University
had remained a fantasy throughout his life. Long after this spiritual leader's death, a university
called "Islamic University" was founded, however, in the area of Kustia rather than Tangail.

After a lengthy wait, Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina" laid
the foundation stone for MBSTU at Santosh, Tangail, in 1999. Prof. Dr. Md. Yousuf Sharif Ahmed
Khan was appointed as the university's first Vice Chancellor on November 21, 2002, and MBSTU
officially began operations with only two departments—computer - Computer Science and
Engineering and Information and Communication Technology - under the first faculty of the
university, which is the faculty of Computer Science and Engineering. On October 25, 2003,
MBSTU began its initial academic activity with a total of 83 students and five CSE faculty
members. MBSTU was incorporated with two new departments - Environmental Science &
Resource Management and Criminology & Police Science - under the University's second faculty,
the faculty of Life Science, after around eight months of academic length. Over time, new
departments have been added to MBSTU's CSE and Life Science faculties. Textile Engineering,
Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Food Technology, and Nutritional Science are the new
departments. At the moment, the university has about 5800 students, and MBSTU is on its way to
prosperity and glory.

Academic
MBSTU offers under graduate, post-graduate & PhD programs for both national & International
students. Every year, in total 815 students are enrolled in undergraduate programs to study in this

institution. The number of faculty members is about 206. Total students approximately 5800.
Teachers and student’s ratio 1:28. MBSTU has 19 departments under 6 faculties. They are-

Campus facilities
MBSTU presents a large, beautiful campus with modern facilities and amenities. It has total 7 halls
including 4 boys (Jananeta Abdul Mannan Hall, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall,
Shahid Ziaur Rahman Hall, Sheikh Rasel Hall) & 3 girls (Alema Khatun Bhashani Hall, Shaheed
Janani Jahanara Imam Hall (former residence of the Zamindar of Santosh during the British Raj,
now MBSTU property), Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall).

The library has an extensive collection of books, journals, and digital resources to support
academic pursuits. It also provides Research building, Modern lab facilities, auditoriums and
transportation services. The medical center of MBSTU offers free medical services and medicines
to students, teachers and staff of the university, and to the family member of the teachers and staff.
It has its own ambulance service ready round the clock for any serious need.

Research
MBSTU focuses on research and encourages students and faculty members to engage in innovative
projects and scholarly activities. The university organizes seminars, conferences, and workshops
to promote knowledge exchange and collaboration among students and researchers. In 2020,
MBSTU was ranked first among all the universities of Bangladesh based on Scimago Institutions
Rankings. It has very own online Journal named Journal of Science & Technology.

Extra-Curricular Activities
In addition to academic pursuits, MBSTU emphasizes extracurricular activities and offers various
clubs and organizations for students to participate in, such as career clubs, cultural clubs, sports
clubs, and social welfare organizations.

Conclusion
The heavenly power is found in scientific understanding and technological application. Mawlana
Bhashani Science and Technology University aims to educate its students for the challenges of the
twenty-first century by providing them with knowledge of the correct mix of science and
technology. As influenced by the vision of the spiritual philosopher and leader of the leaders -
Mawlana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani - the students of MBSTU hold not only scientific
knowledge but also the norms and values to become complete social human beings who would

break all the obstacles of the society and lead it to a better one. As a result, MBSTU students are
well prepared to confront the challenges of everyday life anywhere.
