How to start test mode
[ENTER]+[8]:Execution of external inspection and internal inspection(MIDI, except USB)
[ENTER]+[2]:Excution of external inspection.

Operation of the test mode

1. Battery terminal mounting confirmation


Make sure that the polarity of the battery terminal is installed correctly.
And check that it does not come off to flick it with your finger the battery
terminal.
After checking, set the battery.
(note) In the case of 61Key model, please work with care not to damage the
body case by, for example, lay a palette when you set the battery.
(note) Please work with care during insertion and removal of the battery,
part of the arrow in the photo on the left are easily deformed spring.

2. Launch Test mode


Start the test mode by pressing the POWER button while holding down the [8] and [ENTER].
Please release the button above after you view as "KROSS", Version appears in the lower right corner.

3. Internal inspection
When Figure 1 will be displayed during the inspection, there
is a failure.

Data that is written in System writing is broken.


Make sure that the result is OK, except MIDI, USB, and Figure 1
SD-Card as shown in Fig 2.

If there is a NG item in internal inspection, Figure 3 is displayed in Figure 2 is not displayed.

Close by pressing the [FUNCTION].

4. Audio measurement
press [ENTER] and "OutputLevel" appears on the LCD.(As shown Figure 6)

SIN wave of 1kHz is output to the channel

Check the level and distortion output R,
Phone L, and Phone R is in the changes
when you press [ENTER].
Waveform of a different frequency in the Figure 6

5. Inspection of SW & LED I (including inspection VOLUME)


5-1. Check the LED lights of all
As shown in Fig 8, make sure that the red LED on the panel is lit.
Check that the brightness of LED is uniform
Make sure that the blue LED is lit like a figure 8 through the hole in the rear side of the "KORG" print
the letter "R".
Make sure that the deviation of the hole of the lower case and the hole of the printed letter "R" is
specified within.

Make sure that the blue LED on the rear is turned off while the LED on the panel is lit all."

5-3. CATEGOLY LED lighting confirm sequentially


"Please press [ENTER].
Make sure thing that the LED surrounding
the CATEGORY ENCORDER repeats the
lighting in the order as shown in Fig 9."
It is not possible to continue to the next
inspection before the LED lights one
cycle.
After confirmation, please let proceed to
the next test by pressing the [ENTER].

5-4. SW & LED inspection
This test is started, SW1 LED is lit.
"Table 1 is the order of inspection.
Please press the button on the cell to the right of the lit LED.
When pressed correctly, LED of the next line of the table is lit."
Make sure that there is no place that is very dark place and is extremely bright lights of the LED.
"Please make sure that you do not scrub is when you press the button.
Please make sure that there are no SW KNOB does not return it stuck."

6. LCD inspection
Inspection of the LCD, make sure that no scratch, cracks in the glass.
Make sure that there is no foreign matter such as dust between the LCD and PANEL SHEET.
6-1. Solid black LCD display inspection
Please make sure that there are no missing dots in solid black LCD display, which is displayed as
shown in Figure 10

After confirmation, please let


proceed to the next test by
pressing the [ENTER].

Please make sure that there are no missing dots in white solid LCD display, which is displayed as
shown in Figure 11

6-3. LCD CONTRAST adjustment confirmation


Please press the [ENTER], LCD will be displayed as shown in Figure 12.
Please make sure that the display becomes darker by rotating to the right ROTARY ENCORDER on
the right side of the LCD.
Please make sure that the contrast is lowered by rotating it to the left.

Adjust the CONTRAST when viewed from an angle to play.


After adjusting, please let proceed to the next test by pressing the [ENTETR].

6-4. LCD BACK LIGHT OFF confirmation


As of Figure 13, please make sure that the LCD BACK LIGHT is turned off by pressing the [ENTER]

7. A / D CONVERTER, ROTARY ENCORDER inspection


Make sure that there is no catch and rub when you move the knob and WHEEL.
When any value of other wheel or knob was changed by some error or mistake, error is displayed on
LCD

7-1. PITCH BEND WHEEL inspection


Make sure that the WHEEL is being returned in the middle by the power of the spring.
Please move until it stops the upward direction from the middle WHEEL.
Please move a little WHEEL, OK will be displayed next to the "CENTER" on the LCD like the 14
figure.
Make sure that the OK is displayed next to the "MAX" like a 14 figure to until it stops moving
upwards it.
Please move until it stops down the WHEEL.
Make sure that the OK is displayed next to the "MIN" like a 14 figure by the time it stops moving in
a downward direction.

"To return to the center and release your finger from the WHEEL.
Please make sure that the right of ""CENTER"" of the LCD displayed ""press [SW1] to valid"" and like

"Rotate the wheel until upper ends.
Remove your hand from the wheel and confirm that the wheel returned to the center position
smoothly.
Rotate the wheel until lower ends.
Confirm same point as upper ends."
Adjust the CONTRAST when viewed from an angle to play.

7-2. MODULATION WHEEL inspection


Please move until it stops upward slowly, the WHEEL.

Please move a little WHEEL.
Make sure that OK will be displayed next to the ""MIN"" on the LCD like the 15 figure.
Please move WHEEL to near the center.
Make shure that OK will be displayed next to the ""CENTER"" on the LCD like the 15 figure."
Make sure that the OK is displayed on the side that shows the "MAX" of the LCD like the 15 figure
by the time that it stops up the WHEEL.
Where it stops, numbers enclosed in square yellow 15 figure, make sure that it is "00000".

7-3. CATEGORY ENCORDER inspection


When you enter the inspection of CATEGORY ENCORDER, screen like Figure 16 is displayed on
the LCD.

CATEGORY ENCORDER, please check that it


is a 12 click around.
Knob is turned to the right, the position of the
lighting CATEGORY LED will change like the
Figure 17 with each click.

Make sure that it is displayed as of 16 figure where PIANO LED is lit with one round to the right
ENCORDER. (Upper left of that number is +12)
"It is bad the following cases.
When OK is not displayed.
Number ""+"" displayed on the upper left of the LCD is larger than 12, or less, fixed 00."
Please press the [PROG], the value is reset. (Screen is displayed as shown in Figure 16 .)
Make sure that it is displayed as of 16 figure where PIANO LED is lit with one round to the left
ENCORDER. (Upper left of that number is -12)
As well as right turn, please start the next inspection after the test was successful by pressing the
[SW1].

7-4. SELECT ENCODER inspection


When you enter the inspection of SELECT ENCORDER, screen like Figure 18 is displayed on the
LCD.
SELECT ENCORDER, please check that it is a 24±3 click around.

"When it is turned one click to the right ENCODER, to confirm that value at enclosed in yellow at the
top left of the screen shown in Figure counts up.
When Turned one click to the left ENCODER, the number is sure to count down."
With one round to the right ENCODER, make sure that the value of the upper left may appear OK like
a 18 in Figure +21 to +27.
"It is defect the following cases.
When OK is not displayed.
Number ""+"" displayed on the upper left of the LCD is larger than +27, or is less than +21, fixed 00."
Please press the [PROG], the value is reset. (Screen is displayed as shown in Figure 18 .)
With one round to the left ENCODER, make sure that the value of the upper left may appear OK like a
18 in Figure -27 to -21.
"It is defect the following cases.
When OK is not displayed.
Figures displayed on the upper left of the LCD is larger than +27, less than +21, or leave unchanged
00. (Display position is marked with yellow boxes in Figure 18)"
Please press the [PROG], the value is reset. (Screen is displayed as shown in Figure 18 .)
With one round to the left ENCODER, make sure that the value of the upper left may appear OK like a
18 in Figure -27 to -21.
"It is defect the following cases.
When OK is not displayed.
Figures displayed on the upper left of the LCD is larger than -21, less than -27, or leave unchanged 00.
(Display position is marked with yellow boxes in Figure 18)"
Please start the next inspection after the test was successful by pressing the [PROG].

7-5. Inspection (ENCODER to the right of LCD) VALUE ENCODER


When you enter the inspection of VALUE ENCORDER, screen like Figure 19 is displayed on the
LCD.
VALUE ENCORDER, please check that it is a 24 ± 3 click around.

"When it is turned one click to the right ENCODER, to confirm that value at enclosed in yellow at the
top left of the screen shown in Figure counts up.
When Turned one click to the left ENCODER, the number is sure to count down."
With one round to the right ENCODER, make sure that the value of the upper left may appear OK like
a 19 in Figure +21 to +27.
"It is defect the following cases.
When OK is not displayed.
Figures displayed on the upper left of the LCD is larger than +27, less than +21, or leave unchanged
00. (Display position is marked with yellow boxes in Figure 19)"
Please press the [EXIT], the value is reset. (Screen is displayed as shown in Figure 19 .)
With one round to the left ENCODER, make sure that the value of the upper left may appear OK like a
24 in Figure 19 -27 to -21.

Figures displayed on the upper left of the LCD is larger than -21, less than -27, or leave unchanged 00.

It is defect if value is less than -27 or leave unchanged 00.
Please start the next inspection after the test was successful by pressing the [EXIT].

7-6. TEMPO VOLUME inspection


When you enter the inspection of TEMPO VOLUME, screen like Figure 20 is displayed on the
LCD.

(Depending on the initial set position of the TEMPO VOLUME, might OK is displayed in the frame of
the side that displays the CENTER of the LCD first.)
After passing through the near the center by turning the TEMPO VOLUME, it appears like a 20

By the time knob is turned to the left TEMPO VOLUME, you will see something like Figure 20 .
In this way, make sure that the three OK is displayed.
After confirmation, and center the TEMPO VOLUME.
When it comes near the center, the next inspection starts automatically.

7. PEDAL inspection
When you enter the inspection of PEDAL, screen like
Figure 21 is displayed on the LCD.

Please depress the EXP-2.


OK appears next to the LCD display as ""CENTER"" in the middle of the process and depresses.
By the time it stops, make sure that it is displayed as shown in Figure 22.
Please raise up the EXP-2.
Before possible raised in the foreground, make sure that it is displayed as shown in Figure 23.

When you press the PS-1, make sure that it is displayed as shown in Figure 24.
When you release the foot from PS-1, make sure that it is displayed as shown in Figure 25.

As you slowly depress the DS-1H, and make sure it is displayed as shown in Figure 26 and Figure 27

Release pedal of DS-1H, the next inspection starts


automatically.
It is defect if the OK is not displayed by EXP-2,
PS-1, DS-1H operation.

Proceed Then press the [ENTER] Figure 28 appears. Figure 28


8. Keyboard inspection
8-1 keyboard setting
The display will indicate as shown in Fig 29, set the
keyboard type.

If 61Key, please select it by pressing the [FUNCTION].


It is displayed as shown in Figure 30.
If 88Key, please select it by pressing the [PAGE +]. Figure 29

he [MENU] button for the determination of the number of keyboard selection. It proceed to the next
test in this operation.

8-2 Velocity inspection


When you enter the inspection of VELOCITY, screen like
Figure 32is displayed on the LCD.
Is Verifying play legato in keying in order to lowest Key
sound from the highest sound Key.
Inspection of Key to the lowest note is successfu the next Figure 32
inspection starts automatically.
Keyboard setting of 8-1 is incorrect or faulty when any sound is from Key in the middle, or if there is no
sound even though it has already been keying.
Reconfiguration, or do the repair.
Test will not proceed if the value is out of range of velocity even play at the touch of a medium.
The defect of the keyboard in the following cases.
1) It doesn't advance to the next key number except hit hard touch.
2) It doesn't advance to the next key number except hit weak touch.
If the Key name displays another even though no 2Key only press at the same time, it is faulty.
How to hit or play legato keyboard .
Push right edge key and keep pushing it.
Keep pushing it and push 2nd key from right edge .
Keep pushing 2nd key from right edge key and release right edge key.
The finger of Key with push earlier as well, and then release after keying the Key to the left.
Please perform the inspection of the lowest note to the highest note from Key Key in this procedure.

8-3 keyboard noise inspection


When you enter the this inspection, screen like Figure
33is displayed on the LCD.
Proceed to next inspection by pushing [ENTER].

9. Battery drive check


9-1 Change AC ADAPTER drive to BATTERY drive check
When you enter this inspection, screen like Figure 34 is
displayed on the LCD.
Make sure that it will be the display of Figure 35 when I
disconnect the DC plug you have inserted into the test
object. Figure 34
Voltage is changed, the value is displayed in the position of Figure 35 "----".

10. Confirmation sound


10-1 Confirmation of keyboard setting
Check that the low sound is generated by hitting the left edge key, that high sound is generated by
hitting the rihgt edge key.
There could have been set to "8-1 keyboard setting" wrong in this case.
If the left end high sounds, left end low sounds, it is possible that ""8-1 keyboard setting"" wrong in this
case.
Please try again from the beginning completion inspection.

10-2 Confirmation sound


Turn the CATEGORY ENCORDER, please check for each tone
The sound name, make sure that the same name of table 2 is displayed.
