application materials. As the Sculpture Professor at Wayne State College, I have had the opportunity to teach
Zaynab in several classes, including foundation level Design, Sculpture 1, and Sculpture 2. Based on my
experience, Zaynab has proven to be a highly outgoing and self-motivated artist and educator who is well
prepared to succeed in the Pk-12 classroom.
Having witnessed Zaynab develop in their professional ambitions, I can attest that they are an enthusiastic,
organized, and imaginative person who welcomes constructive criticism as a means of improving upon both their
artistic research and teaching goals. Working across multiple mediums, Zaynab creates contemporary artwork
inspired by both personal and cultural identity with a special sensitivity to life and death. This personal artistic
practice reflects in the classroom, making Zaynab a flexible and empathetic educator, able to work with students
from diverse backgrounds.
When faced with challenges, Zaynab is thoughtful and proactive in seeking out answers. They have a genuine
desire to make the world a better place, which makes them a great leader and a passionate ally. Students will
benefit not only from Zaynab’s knowledge of artistic processes, but also their ability to relate creative content to
student interests and lives.
