2401.1 LESSON SUMMARY

In this lesson, the student will learn proper attitude instrument flying and get used to
the handling characteristics of flying in the Redbird MCX Motion simulator

After this lesson, student should have built and reinforced his instrument flying skills of
instrument cross-check, instrument interpretation, and aircraft control

2401.5 COMPLETION STANDARDS:

In this lesson, the student should be able to demonstrate good aircraft control through
the use of pitch, bank, and power. In addition, the student should maintain altitude
within +/- 200ft and heading within +/- 15degrees during level flight, and +/- 15knots on
airspeed during climbs and descents. Lastly, the student should understand both the
change in instrument reference and the emphasis necessary to maintain control while
using partial panel.

In this lesson, the student will get more used to attitude instrument flying in full and
partial panel

partial panel situations.

Lesson NO. 2402 INSTRUMENT FLIGHT NAVIGATION
(SIM)
Attitude flying, UPRT – VFR & IFR 2+00 hours Flight Simulator

2402.1 LESSON SUMMARY

In this lesson, the student will learn how to recognize, prevent, and recover from an
airplane upset in the Redbird MCX flight simulator

2402.2 LESSON OBJECTIVE:

After this lesson, students should gain proficiency and confidence in upset prevention
and recovery.

After this lesson, the student should be able to recognize unusual attitudes and upsets,
and correctly perform stall & upset recovery procedures or template

2403.1 LESSON SUMMARY

In this lesson, the student will gain confidence in positional awareness and navigation

2403.2 LESSON OBJECTIVE:

After this lesson, student should know how to determine his orientation and position,
time, speed, and distance relative to a VOR station. Also, student should know how to
intercept and track VOR radials and DME arcs.

Lesson NO. 3101 ADVANCED INSTRUMENT TRAINING - SIMULATOR
VOR Navigation, Partial-panel 2+00 hours Flight Simulator

3101.1 LESSON SUMMARY

In this lesson, the students instrument flying skill and knowledge is reinforced with the
introduction of other navigation aids

3101.2 LESSON OBJECTIVE:

This lesson introduces orientation in relation to a VOR station. VOR radial interception
and tracking procedures will be introduced. VOR time, speed, and distance
computations, and the interception and tracking of DME arcs are introduced.

3102.1 LESSON SUMMARY

In this lesson, the student will demonstrate sufficiency of his acquired skills and
knowledge in instrument flying.

3102.2 LESSON OBJECTIVE:

In this lesson, the simulator instructor is to evaluate and ensure that the student in
training is prepared to take on more complex procedures

3102.5 COMPLETION STANDARDS:

The student should be able to maintain altitude within +/- 100ft, heading within +/-10
degrees, and desired climb/descent rates within +/- 100feet per minute. Also, the
student should demonstrate accurate VOR/NDB/GPS orientation and tracking.
Lesson NO. 3103 ADVANCED INSTRUMENT TRAINING - SIMULATOR
VOR Navigation, Holding Pattern 2+00 hours Flight Simulator

3103.1 LESSON SUMMARY

In this lesson, the student will try different types of holding pattern.

3103.2 LESSON OBJECTIVE:

This lesson is to introduce: VOR/VORTAC/VOR-DME Holding patterns, intersection, and


NDB and/or GPS holding patterns.

3103.5 COMPLETION STANDARDS:

Using VOR/VORTAC, the student should demonstrate the correct procedures in


execution of holding patterns. In addition, using intersections and NDB/GPS, the correct
holding procedures should be executed.
Lesson NO. 3104 ADVANCED INSTRUMENT TRAINING - SIMULATOR

3104.1 LESSON SUMMARY

In this lesson, the student will gain increased proficiency in instrument flight by review
and practice of all the past lessons plus introduction of localizer and ILS approaches.
Emergency/lost communication procedures will also be tackled.

3104.2 LESSON OBJECTIVE:

This lesson should reinforce the student’s skills and knowledge base as he gets
introduced to more advanced and complicated navigation procedures and systems

3104.3 LESSON BRIEFING

3104.4 LESSON CONTENT

 Standard Instrument Departure


 Instrument Approach Procedures: VOR/VORTAC, Localizer, ILS, VOR/DME arc,
NDB/GPS, missed approach

3104.5 COMPLETION STANDARDS:

The student should be able to do the following with minimal assistance


 Brief and use the information on approach charts
 Execute several initial and immediate approach segments to arrive at the final
approach fix
 Complete the final approach and letdown to the missed approach point
 Demonstrate the missed approach procedures as published
In an ILS approach, the student should demonstrate accurate localizer interception and
tracking and make a transition to the glideslope at the correct point. Glideslope and Loc
should be maintained with less than half-scale needle deflection. In a non-precision
approach, student should maintain an altitude within +100 feet on the final and
intermediate approach segments. On the final approach segment, the student should
maintain an altitude that is not more than 100 feet above MDA.
Lesson NO. 3105 ADVANCED INSTRUMENT TRAINING - SIMULATOR
X-country IFR, Emergencies 2+00 hours Flight Simulator

3105.1 LESSON SUMMARY

In this lesson, the student is introduced to cross-country operations, flight planning, and
emergencies.

3105.2 LESSON OBJECTIVE:

The aim of this lesson is to introduce the student to IFR cross -country procedures with
major emphasis on planning and departure procedures.

3105.5 COMPLETION STANDARDS:

The student should display an understanding of the procedures involved in cross-


country planning, filing IFR flight plan, and obtaining IFR clearances. The student will
demonstrate a sound understanding of the procedures used in the various emergency
situations. The lesson must include a landing at an airport with an instrument approach
more than 50NM from departure.
Lesson NO. 3106 ADVANCED INSTRUMENT TRAINING - SIMULATOR
X-country IFR-Dep., Arr., App. 2+00 hours Flight Simulator

3106.1 LESSON SUMMARY

In this lesson, the student will be more familiar with IFR departure, enroute, and arrival
procedures.

3106.2 LESSON OBJECTIVE:

This lesson should familiarize the student better with IFR navigation phases- departure,
enroute, and arrival procedures.

At the end of the flight, the student must have successfully flown with minimal
supervision and assistance, an ILS approach on a different airport.

3107.1 LESSON SUMMARY

In this lesson, the student will increase proficiency, rectify past errors, and polish his
instrument flying

3108.1 LESSON SUMMARY

In this lesson, the student is evaluated by the simulator instructor on his proficiency and
competence as pilot in command of an IFR flight.

3108.2 LESSON OBJECTIVE:

The aim of this lesson is to test the student’s instrument flight proficiency and his ability
to act as pilot in command based on his aircraft control, navigation, and decision
making.

or above proficiency level stipulated in CAAP AC 02-010.
