Ir Confusion
Ir Confusion
In this lesson, the student will learn proper attitude instrument flying and get used to
the handling characteristics of flying in the Redbird MCX Motion simulator
After this lesson, student should have built and reinforced his instrument flying skills of
instrument cross-check, instrument interpretation, and aircraft control
Basic maneuvers
Climbing/descending turns
Rated turns
Rated climbs and descents
Airspeed control
Vertical S, S-1 and S-2
Recovery from unusual attitude
Partial-panel flying
In this lesson, the student should be able to demonstrate good aircraft control through
the use of pitch, bank, and power. In addition, the student should maintain altitude
within +/- 200ft and heading within +/- 15degrees during level flight, and +/- 15knots on
airspeed during climbs and descents. Lastly, the student should understand both the
change in instrument reference and the emphasis necessary to maintain control while
using partial panel.
Lesson NO. 2302 BASIC INSTRUMENT TRAINING - SIMULATOR
Attitude flying, Partial-panel, T.O and Ldg. 2+00 hours Flight Simulator
In this lesson, the student will get more used to attitude instrument flying in full and
partial panel
After this lesson, student should gain increased proficiency in attitude flying even in
partial panel situations.
In this lesson, the student should understand both the change in instrument reference
and the emphasis necessary to maintain control while using partial panel.
Lesson NO. 2402 INSTRUMENT FLIGHT NAVIGATION
(SIM)
Attitude flying, UPRT – VFR & IFR 2+00 hours Flight Simulator
In this lesson, the student will learn how to recognize, prevent, and recover from an
airplane upset in the Redbird MCX flight simulator
After this lesson, students should gain proficiency and confidence in upset prevention
and recovery.
After this lesson, the student should be able to recognize unusual attitudes and upsets,
and correctly perform stall & upset recovery procedures or template
Lesson NO. 2403 INSTRUMENT FLIGHT NAVIGATION (SIM)
VOR Instrument Navigation 2+00 hours Flight Simulator
In this lesson, the student will gain confidence in positional awareness and navigation
After this lesson, student should know how to determine his orientation and position,
time, speed, and distance relative to a VOR station. Also, student should know how to
intercept and track VOR radials and DME arcs.
In this lesson, the students instrument flying skill and knowledge is reinforced with the
introduction of other navigation aids
This lesson introduces orientation in relation to a VOR station. VOR radial interception
and tracking procedures will be introduced. VOR time, speed, and distance
computations, and the interception and tracking of DME arcs are introduced.
In this lesson, the student will demonstrate sufficiency of his acquired skills and
knowledge in instrument flying.
In this lesson, the simulator instructor is to evaluate and ensure that the student in
training is prepared to take on more complex procedures
The student should be able to maintain altitude within +/- 100ft, heading within +/-10
degrees, and desired climb/descent rates within +/- 100feet per minute. Also, the
student should demonstrate accurate VOR/NDB/GPS orientation and tracking.
Lesson NO. 3103 ADVANCED INSTRUMENT TRAINING - SIMULATOR
VOR Navigation, Holding Pattern 2+00 hours Flight Simulator
In this lesson, the student will try different types of holding pattern.
In this lesson, the student will gain increased proficiency in instrument flight by review
and practice of all the past lessons plus introduction of localizer and ILS approaches.
Emergency/lost communication procedures will also be tackled.
This lesson should reinforce the student’s skills and knowledge base as he gets
introduced to more advanced and complicated navigation procedures and systems
VOR/VORTAC holding
NDB/GPS holding
In this lesson, the student is introduced to cross-country operations, flight planning, and
emergencies.
The aim of this lesson is to introduce the student to IFR cross -country procedures with
major emphasis on planning and departure procedures.
Cross-country planning
ATC comms- clearance copying and readback
IFR departure
Emergency operations: Lost comms., Loss of altitude and/or Heading indicator
IFR approach
Maneuvers assigned by the Simulator Instructor
In this lesson, the student will be more familiar with IFR departure, enroute, and arrival
procedures.
This lesson should familiarize the student better with IFR navigation phases- departure,
enroute, and arrival procedures.
At the end of the flight, the student must have successfully flown with minimal
supervision and assistance, an ILS approach on a different airport.
Lesson NO. 3107 ADVANCED INSTRUMENT TRAINING - SIMULATOR
Instrument Nav, Emergencies 2+00 hours Flight Simulator
In this lesson, the student will increase proficiency, rectify past errors, and polish his
instrument flying
After this lesson, students should gain proficiency and confidence in instrument flying
Instrument departure/SID
Instrument arrival/STAR
Instrument approach – ILS/VOR/NDB/GPS
Maneuvers assigned by the Simulator Instructor
After this lesson, the student must have rectified any errors and deficiencies from all the
past lessons.
Lesson NO. 3108 ADVANCED INSTRUMENT TRAINING - SIMULATOR
Progress Check 2+00 hours Flight Simulator
In this lesson, the student is evaluated by the simulator instructor on his proficiency and
competence as pilot in command of an IFR flight.
The aim of this lesson is to test the student’s instrument flight proficiency and his ability
to act as pilot in command based on his aircraft control, navigation, and decision
making.
The student shall be able to display a complete understanding of IFR procedures and
demonstrate necessary knowledge and skill to operate safely as PIC, IFR procedures at
or above proficiency level stipulated in CAAP AC 02-010.
