What is Biomes: Ecosystem

● A region on earth where the climate determines the type of plants and animals which
lives there
● There are many different types of biomes:
● Terrestrial: Rainforest, Desert, Tundra (treeless plain which is frozen), Grassland,
Taiga (subarctic forest), Temperate deciduous (biome which experiences all four
seasons)
● Aquatic: Coral reef, Oceans, Estuaries (a place where river and stream meets the
ocean)
● Freshwater: Wetland (Swamp), Pond and lake, river and greek

What is agriculture:
● Agriculture Yield: a standard measurement of the amount of agricultural (crop)
harvested and meat and milk product
● Food Production: the process of cultivating crops and raising animals through
farming
● Food production are be affected by many factors; e.g. Impact of Humans

Human alteration of biomes:

● Factors of altering biomes: Pollution, Overpopulation, Soil erosion, Poor air quality,
Water scarcity, Burning of fossil fuel (Climate change), and Deforestation.
● Examples of Human alteration: Vegetation removal (deforestation), Agriculture,
Land terracing, Irrigation and Mining
What is Salinity:
● Salinity is the movement of salt to the land surface with groundwater, occurring on
land that is not used for irrigation
● It causes the most widespread damage to biomes

Technology in farming:
● Vertical farming for places with scared land
● Automated fish farm
● DNA Alteration
● Robotic Soil Analysis bot

Threats of Non-Native Plants, animals and insects:

● Invasive species threaten native animals
● Invasive species take the habitats of native animals, which can put native species
endangered and causes the extinction of many species
● Examples of invasive species: Goats, rabbits deer and pest fish

Food Security:
● Arme Conflicted destroys resources needed
● Food Security: when all people, at all times, have physical, social and economic
access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food
preferences for an active and healthy life.

What forces or gets people to move:

● Factors that force people to move: War, Natural Disaster, etc
● Factors that get people to move: Better Life, More opportunity, better jobs

What is Urbanization:
● The movement from rural to urban
● Urbanization offers more opportunities
● Urbanization has many benefits including better jobs, access to education and
access to more resources like hospitals. But it also has many negative like poverty,
pollution, etc. The consequences of urbanisation can be split into economic, social
and environmental.

What is population density:

● The number of people that lives in an area.
● Population density can be displayed using Choropleth Mapping

What is the significance of cities:

● Cities are the heart of economic development, it is estimated that cities generate
80% of economic growth.
● Megacities are cities that have 10 million people living there
● E.g. is Mexico City
