INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION

Read the following instructions carefully before answering the questions.
1. You may use your textbook as a resource, additional resources must also be referenced and included in
the bibliography.
2. Complete your task on A4 lined paper.
3. Ensure that you write the date, your full name and task heading:
4. Draw a marking margin on the right-hand side of all your answer sheets.
5. Refer to page 33 (Focus – Grade 11 History) for notes on how to write a history essay.
6. Make sure to include a bibliography of all sources used.
7. Your essay should be about 3 pages long.
8. Please remember as this is a research essay, you will be required to have
done extensive research into the topic,
9. Write clearly and legibly.

Collect all the research components and write an essay in the presence of the invigilator.

ESSAY QUESTIONS:

“Stalin's interpretation of Marxism-Leninism served as a tool for consolidating power and

reshaping Soviet society. While Stalin implemented certain aspects of Marxist-Leninist ideology,
his modifications and ruthless tactics deviated significantly from its original principles, resulting in a
totalitarian regime marked by centralized authority, forced industrialization, and the suppression of
dissent."
