Patricia Zoundi Yao is from Côte d'Ivoire and is the founder of QuikCash, a company founded in 2010 to facilitate money
transfers in rural Africa, she noticed that existing money transfer platform would not work due to limitations such as lack of
electricity and internet access in rural communities. To find a solution, Zoundi Yao decided to set up QuickCash money
transfer Company in 2010 to facilitate the transfer of money in rural areas. Patricia did not have a dime to her name and
had to take out a loan to pay the notary fee. It was difficult at first, by her own account: “We couldn’t even get an office so
we worked in a room at home. As you can imagine, I was obviously not getting paid.” She added: “I remember having to
take out a loan to pay for the deed to set up the company. I started with a second-hand computer bought for 60,000 CFA
francs (approximately USD 100) and a mobile phone costing 10,000 CFA francs (approximately USD 17)”. The new company
also had to face major competitors

Aware of her company's operational limitations, Zoundi Yao and her team segmented their client base to target a well-

VI. CONCLUSION

technology (IT) adoption, this study has revealed important insights into the multifaceted barriers that it contains barriers

it. Implications from this study highlight the urgent need for targeted interventions and strategies to address the
challenges faced by women entrepreneurs. From lack of financial resources and market opportunities to persistent gender
biases and barriers to ICT adoption, the implications extend beyond individual entrepreneurs and affect economic growth,

Policymakers need to develop and implement inclusive policies that address the specific needs and challenges faced by
women entrepreneurs. This includes targeted financial aid programs, gender-sensitive procurement policies and ways to
ensure equity in decision-making bodies. Educational institutions and technology companies should collaborate to
prioritize digital literacy initiatives. These initiatives should provide women entrepreneurs with the necessary skills to
navigate the digital landscape, building confidence and competence in adopting ICT.
