Let Us Discover
Now that you know how to identify and name varied electrical measuring and testing
instruments, let us proceed to the utilization of such tools and identify objects or components
to be measured. Your knowledge of the previous lesson will help you work successfully in this
lesson. But take note in this lesson we will be discussing linear measurement.
Measurement is the process or the result of determining the ratio of a physical quantity, such
as a length, time, temperature, etc., to a unit of measurements, such as the meter, second, or
degree Celsius. The science of measurement is called metrology.
Let us begin with the ruler, pull-push rule. Here are the steps using ruler, pull-push
rule, and measuring tools in the construction work.
Measure the height, width, and length of an office table as illustrated using your measuring
tool.
Level Bar
Measure the levelness and straightness using the level bar.
1. In measuring levelness, place the lever bar on horizontal and read good or centered locator
to assume the perfect level job.
2. In measuring straightness, place lever bar on vertical position and read good or centered
locator to assume perfect straight.
3. In measuring 450, place the lever bar on the measured position and read good or centered
locator to assume perfect angle.
Let Us Try
b. Width ___________
h
c. Length __________
Let Us Apply
How are you? Did you enjoy doing drawing activities and doing different tasks? Let us check
how much have you learned.
Direction: Choose the letter of the correct answer and write your answer on the blank
provided before the number.
