Beyond the Classroom Shadowing Experience

Today I decided to shadow someone who’s hidden behind the scenes but does a lot at Fairfield
Elementary, her name is Mrs.Mullaly and her official job title is the “Registrar” at Fairfield. She’s
been an employee here for 18 years and she said she would never leave, before coming to
Fairfield she worked at Saint Matthew's Catholic as a teacher before switching to a registrar.
She went to college and got her associate degree in education, her typical day as a registrar
looks like going through student records updating and making sure everything is correct in the
system and she also handles attendance sometimes. She stated that her favorite part of the job
is the principal, the teachers, and the staff and she reiterated that she would never leave “until I
die.” The only challenge she highlighted was getting interrupted every day by buzzing people in
when security is not around and talking to staff members, she also added that she works
summers due to students being registered which I never thought about the fact that registrars
have to be here during the summers to register students. Below is a picture of me and Mrs.
