DEFINATION
Right attitude to work is the positive practice of doing activities or duties with
every form of seriousness. It is also the exhibition of acceptable behaviour on
the job.
ATTRIBUTES OF RIGHT ATTITUDE TO WORK
Some of the attributes of right attitude to work include;
 HONESTY/TRUSTFULLNESS: This is the quality of saying the truth at all
times, no matter the situation. An individual with this attribute does not
lie, cheat, or steal. That is why honesty is the best policy.
 DEPENDABILITY: This entailed being trusted to do a particular job with
little or no supervision.
 PUNCTUALITY: this involves arriving to work or doing something at the
expected time. Punctuality is said to be the soul of every business.
 DISCIPLINE: This has to do with self-control, it is a way of behaviour that
shows willingness to obey rules and regulations.
 CONSISTENCY: This is when a worker continually delivers his best and
displays a right attitude to work at all times.
 COMMITMENT AND DEDICATION: This involves giving a keen interest in
a given task and ensures that it gets completed.
 DILLIGENCE: This is the act of being hardworking. A worker who is
diligent does what he or she is asked without complaining.
Other attributes include tolerance, team spirit, and being polite.
REWARDS/IMPORTANCE OF RIGHT ATTITUDE TO WORK
o HIGHER OUTPUT: right attitude to work results in higher and better
productivity.
o RECOGNITION AND FAME: right attitude to work promotes recognition
and fame of the worker
o JOB SECURITY: a worker with the right attitude to work enjoys job
security, because a bad attitude can get someone fired.
o DEVELOPMENT: it leads to the steady progress and development of an
organization
o GOOD NATIONAL IMAGE: citizens with right attitude improves the
national image of the country and attracts investors
o GOOD LEGACY: it will leave a good legacy on the worker and the
company; the company will also become a trusted brand known for its
good work ethics and productivity.
CONSEQUENCES OF NOT HAVING THE RIGHT ATTITUDE TO WORK
 There will be a decline in the organisations progress and productivity;
and profit will automatically decline
 It brings about poor quality of goods which can be harmful to people’s
life
 It can lead to a strained relationship between the worker and the
employers
 It leads to bad national image
 It results in Loss of confidence from the organisation which may lead to
the termination of the employee’s contract
