Introduction
Andre Foods International (AFI) is a Non-Profit Organization fully registered with the Government of
Uganda. AFI is devoted to using community-based sustainable models to promote food literacy, best
WASH practices and elevated income that translates into the development and reduction of malnutrition.
AFI works with both local and international development partners by providing a comprehensive
approach to solving community / public nutrition problems through; Food security, nutrition and health
assessments/surveys for immediate community interventions, developing and implementing projects
about prevailing food security, health and nutrition.

AFI is actively seeking qualified candidates for service delivery in humanitarian settings

Position: Livelihood Officer


Duty Station: Kotido, Abim, Kaabong, Moroto, Nakapiripirit, Amudat
Reports to: Programme Officer
No. of positions: 6

Key Duties and Responsibilities:


• Develop agricultural training plans and session guides for community groups on pre
and post-harvest handling practices
• Identify and facilitate linkages between project participants in this case care groups
and Nutrition Resilience Hub Promoters (NRHP) and key agricultural stakeholders,
including input and output dealers, District officials and others
• Deliver agricultural training to all the identified households through the care group
model
• Support developing, maintaining and harvesting demonstration gardens in selected
parishes and schools.
• Support and mentor Nutrition Resilience Hub Promoters (NRHP) and selected
schools to establish gardens, providing regular guidance and support to promote
positive yields and results.
• Provide supplementary support to Nutrition Officers to manage and oversee
community volunteers and community groups and ensure quality and timely
implementation of project activities as per the project plan
• Conduct regular market surveys, assessments and mapping of agricultural actors and
stakeholders in the respective district of operation in specific value chains, notably
OFSP, sorghum and other nutrient-dense foods
• Develop work plans and ensure timely implementation of the programme activities
• Prepare high quality reports, both narrative and quantitative information and reporting
on relevant indicators and outcomes. Ensure that all reports are delivered according to
high quality standards and are always submitted on time.
• Take lead in documentation and sharing of Impact/success stories and best practices
to promote learning.
• Organize quarterly review meetings for partners and communities at the project sites
to reflect on programmes/projects approaches, tools, impact of interventions, best
practices, exit and sustainability strategies as well as create spaces and opportunities
for action-learning and debate.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:


• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agriculture Economics, Development Economics,
Agribusiness, Agriculture Extension and Rural Development or other relevant fields.
• At least Three (03) years of relevant professional work experience in project
Management and Livelihood activities.
• Demonstrated experience in Agricultural program target setting and reporting.
• Motivation and practical experience working with agricultural MSMEs in a
development setting.
• Knowledge of the agricultural sectors is highly desirable
• Strong writing, communication, organization, prioritization and negotiating skills.
• Proven financial management skills.
• Willingness to spend more time in the field and work closely with program target
groups.
• Strong computer literacy with a full knowledge of office applications.
• Ability to ride a motorcycle and has a valid riding permit.
• Knowledge of the local language is highly desirable.
