Physics Laboratory Activity #2

Kinematics in One Dimension

Students: _____________________________________ Date: ___________________

_____________________________________________ Section: ___________________

Materials:

1. Rolling Object, (Example: Ball, Bicycle)

2. Timer/Stopwatch

3. Length/Distance Measuring Tool

4. Camera for Documentation (Picture/Video)

1. Inclined one dimension

Procedure:

 Choose a sloped/inclines location, path, or road.

 Choose an object to roll down.
 Measure the distance from the highest desired point(start) to the lowest point(end).
 From highest point (start), release the object at rest and let it roll down to the lowest point(end).
 Measure the time it takes the object to travel down from the highest point to the lowest point.
 Assuming no other externa force are affecting the object, calculate for:
o Acceleration
o Final Velocity

2. Freefall

Materials:

1. Freefall Object, (Example: Ball, Mobile Phone)

2. Timer/Stopwatch

3. Length/Distance Measuring Tool

4. Camera for Documentation (Picture/Video)

Procedure:

 Select a safe and elevated location to drop the freefall object.

 Measure the height from the point of dropping to landing.
 Drop the Object.
 Measure the time of the object from the point of dropping to the point of landing.
 Calculate for the approximate Final velocity just before the object hits the ground.
