3. Fingerprint scanner .it is an input device that captures the unique pattern of ridges and
valleys on a person's fingertip. The data obtained is processed into a system which is later
accessed for identity verification.
4. Optical mark reader .it is a device that reads or detects marks made on a specially designed
form. The forms usually have boxes that must be shaded, presence or absence of marks or
shaded portions are detected by the OMR using light sensors.it converts the marks into digital
data that can be processed based on the forms used.
5. Mouse. The mouse is an input device that issues commands to the computer by controlling
a pointer on the graphical user interface. Forward, backward, left and right sided motions by
the mouse are converted into electrical signals into the computer; these movements are
replicated by the pointer in addition to left and right buttons to perform actions like clicking,
double clicking, drag and drop, selecting and others.
6. A webcam is an input device that takes in data such as images, videos, and audio signals
into a computer. A webcam consists of an image sensor, a lens, and a processor. The image
sensor captures video footage, while the lens focuses the light onto the sensor.
7.A barcode scanner is an input device that uses light beams to scan and digitally convert
printed barcodes. It then decodes the data and sends the data to a computer. It consists of a
lens, a source of light, and a light sensor that can translate optical impulses into electrical
signals.
8. A hand-held input device used to control the movement or actions of a digital object on a
computer screen.it consist of a handle which can be tilted or pushed, these movements are
inputted into the computer as commands.it is popularly used in gaming however it can
recently be used to control automated machines including a drone.
9.Scanner. It is an input device that provides information to the computer by means of
scanned images. It will take anything that is physically present, such as a paper or a picture,
and convert it into a digital form before transferring it to your personal computer.
10.Keyboard. It is an output device that gives functions and commands by means of pressing
keys or buttons. It is used to enter data into a computer. A keyboard has individual characters
such as letters, numbers and special keys that issue commands.
OUTPUT DEVICES
1. Monitor/Display: It is an output device that displays information on a screen. It makes
information from computer readable to the user by visually displaying text and images.
3. Speaker: It brings out information in the form of audio signals and sound effects, allowing
you to hear music, movies, and other audio files.
4. Headphones: Like speakers, headphones provide audio output, but they are worn over the
ears for personal listening.
5. Projector: It projects images or videos onto a larger screen or surface, often used for
presentations or movie screenings. They work by beaming light through a colour wheel,
reflection mirrors and a lens.
6. Plotter: It draws precise, detailed images or designs. It uses markers and pen to create
hardcopies of information from a computer.
7. Braille Display: It converts digital text into braille characters, allowing visually impaired
users to read. It operates using pins that goes up and down to enable users to read a line of
braille text.
9. LED Lights: They emit light in various colours and patterns, used for decorative or
informational purposes. The colour emitted gives information based on its conventional
meaning. An example is a traffic light.
10. Haptic Feedback Devices: These devices provide tactile sensations, like vibrations or
force, to simulate touch or enhance user experience in gaming or virtual reality.
