Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered
coronavirus which spreads very fast through contact and can be prevented by proper sanitization and social distancing. The outbreak of this disease has created an unprecedented alarming situation around the world. This is the first kind of virus outbreak which occurred in such a large scale. In my opinion this outbreak it serves as a signal to the humans as well as to our approach towards nature. It serves as a sign to the humans about how much precious our lives are, that our mistakes can lead the society to doom, how granted we take our nature etc. and that we need to start learning from our mistakes and prepare to face such difficult times. It is a message to the world who feels it has achieved every success in the material world but is unaware of its own limits to come out of such a crisis. This pandemic warns us about the impending crisis of the environment due to climate change which can lead to such panic situations as this is. According to Kyle Harper “It burst the bubble, a bubble of false comfort and denial, bubble of the belief that we are insulated from all the hazards.” But, every act or event has a positive side and the positive aspect of such crisis is that it gives us the opportunity to introspect ourselves and understand that we as an individual have certain roles and duties in the society. It is a time where we all stop and wonder how one’s action can lead to such crisis and that it is us who by taking proper steps can stop this pandemic. This crisis has given rise to global cooperation to a massive scale, it has showed that we all are social humans and any boundaries vanishes away when humans unite to fight against such evils. Communities are coming together like never before in various ways. Countries are extending their support to each and other to end the spread of Corona Virus. In this era of Globalisation which has connected us to each and other and has made us interdependent, the only way to help ourselves is to help one another and by protecting the nature. This has reestablished our interconnectedness with humanity and as well as with nature. I believe this has helped us to understand the value of being selfless and that we need to change our behavior and the need to emerge from this pandemic. This pandemic has no doubt led to shattering of world peace and is costing us such a price which is unaffordable to humanity by destroying lives, disrupting economics, destroying livelihood etc. but is an opportunistic crisis where people are uniting with their loved ones, it has relived people from their hectic schedules and have united them to their family and most importantly signaled the humanity that we should not take our lives for granted, we should respect our nature and should strive in any way possible so as to preserve it.
