People are being drified to- wards hatred, extremism and terrorism and the future seems bleak. Even the learned and intellectual sections of the society are living in a state of uncertainty and most of them have become pes- simistic. In such conditions, people tend to take refuge in religion or sometimes in escapism in the form of taking drugs etc, which does n't help them either. There is a third option which may help the humanity in these testing times, that is to follow the path of the Sufis — the mystics, like Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai. ‘In this article the way of the Sufis has been described in its historical perspective and its need in the modern times in gen- eral and that of Shah Latif in particular, The Sufis believe in the oneness of the Creator, and his creations (Joox. Lyre) - thus believing in equal treatment for all human beings. They profess ideals of love, peace and brother- hood.
