SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN in

ENGLISH 8

I. OBJECTIVE:
At the end of 60-minute discussion, the students should be able to:
a. identify the difference between the subject and predicate in the sentence;
b. apply the agreement of subject and predicate in writing a complete sentence; and
c. value the importance of rules of agreement between the subject and the predicate
in writing a complete sentence.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:


Topic: OBSERVING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SUBJECT AND THE PREDICATE
First Rule – The Predicate Agrees with the Subject

pages 251-253
Materials: Powerpoint Presentation, laptop, television
Value Integration: To enhance their writing skills especially in writing their sentences
correctly.

III. LEARNING PROCEDURE:


A. Preparation
 Prayer
 Greetings
B. Review
 What is title of the video that you have watched the other day?
 Who is the hero of the epic Ramayana?
 Who is the wife of Rama?
 Did Rama survived in the evilness that surrounded him? How did he do
that?
C. Presentation
The teacher will let the students watched a video about Subject and Predicate.
The teacher presents the topic for the day which is about Observing Agreement
between the Subject and the Predicate the first rule which is The Predicate
Agrees with the Subject.
D. Activity Proper
a. Activity
Let the students define what is the difference between subject and predicate.
b. Analysis
1. How to identify subject and predicate in a sentence?
2. How to apply the agreement of subject and predicate in writing a
complete sentence?
c. Abstraction
The teacher will give a brief description about the definition of subject and
predicate.
The teacher will explain the agreement between the subject and the
predicate.
d. Application
Let the students identify what is the subject and predicate of the sentence
based on the activity that the teacher will give to them.
Each group will present it in front of the class to know whether they
understand the lesson.
