trousers.
C. Most Essential Learning Sewing the standards short pants using
Competencies (MELC) the Unit Method
With Code 1.1 perform the steps in preparing the
fabrics before cutting.

IV. PROCEDURE
A. Reviewing the previous lesson or Preliminaries
presenting the new lesson Daily Routine
▪Greetings
Good day class. How are you today? “Good day ma’am. We are all fine!”

▪Prayer
Please stand up and let us pray.
President, please lead the prayer. “Amen”

▪Attendance checking
Say present when your name is
called. “Present ma’am.”

So far all of you are present!

Review the past discussion

“What was the last topic yesterday?
Anyone?” “It was all about Pattern drafting for short
pants.”
B. Establishing a purpose for the Class we will have an activity. Are you ▪ ‘yes ma’am”
lesson excited?

I have here a game wherein you are going (Students arranged the jumbled letters):
to arrange the jumbled letters to form a
word about what would be done to the
fabric before cutting.
1. GNIKNIRHS-ERP 1. Pre- Shrinking
2.GNINORI 2. Ironing
3. TUO GNIYAL 3. Laying out

Wow! All of you got the correct answers.

C. Presenting Examples/instances of I have here some printed pictures to show
new lesson class.

▪What can you say about these pictures?

(presenting a picture for fabric)
“A fabric ma’am”
(presenting picture for pins)
“a pins ma’am’
(presenting picture for clothesline)
‘a clothesline ma’am”
(presenting picture for tailor’s chalk)
“a tailors chalk ma’am”
(presenting picture for tracing wheel)

Yes, thank you all of your answers are “a tracing wheel ma’am”
correct. This picture has something to do
with our topic today since we are going to
learn the steps in preparing the fabric
before cutting.
D. Discussing new concepts and There are several steps to follow in
practicing new skills #1 sewing a short pants with back patch
pocket. But today we will only tackle the
pre-construction processes.

What do you know about pre-construction

processes? “▪We have five (5) steps under pre-
construction processes in preparing the
fabric before cutting.”

Okay very good class, we have five (5)

steps under pre construction processes.

Let’s find out what are those steps in pre-

construction processes.

Please read the first step class.

(presenting the first step in a slide)
“1. Pre- Shrinking—check the label to see
if the fabric has been pre-shrunk. If it is so,
proceed to the next step.
“What have you understood pre-shrinking
class?” “ it is soaking the garments to a basis of
water ma’am”
Okay let’s proceed to the next step if
there’s no questions.

(presenting the next step)

“2. Straightening the fabric—check if the
lengthwise threads and crosswise threads
run perpendicular to each other. It not,
straighten the fabric by pulling with
hands.”
(presenting the third step)
“3. Ironing—to press and flatten the
fabric.”
(presenting the fourth step)
“4. Laying out—pattern pieces should be
economically placed and accurately pinned
before cutting.”

(presenting the fifth step) “5. Transferring construction marks—

construction symbols such as darts,
notches, lines, and perforations should be
transferred to the fabric by means of a
tracing wheel and tailor’s chalk.”

▪Fabric
What materials do we need to prepare
during these processes? Cite at least one.
E. Discussing new concepts and Now that you already know that we have
practicing new skills #2 five (5) steps under pre-construction
processes. I will demonstrate to you the
actual process of doing it. I brought the
materials that we need to use for this.

Who will volunteer to come in front?

I will be the one to show the actual ▪I will volunteer ma’am.

process and you will do next.

1. Pre-Shrinking- soak the fabric in a

basis of water.

Of course we have here a water, and a

basin.

(demonstrating the actual process)

And now are you ready to demonstrate

also by yourself?
“Yes ma’am”

their hands)

4. Laying out- pattern pieces should be

economically placed and accurately
pinned before cutting. ▪ (The students iron their fabric).

(demonstrating the actual process)

“How was the demonstration class?”

▪ (The students demonstrate on how to

transfer the marks to the fabric).

▪ “Enjoying ma’am”.
F. Developing mastery We will have an activity, since everything
is clear to all of you.

Please group yourself into five (5). ▪Done ma’am.

Here is the mechanics:

Every group will demonstrate the steps
under pre- construction processes.

Group 1, you are going to demonstrate the

step 1. ▪” Noted ma’am.”

Group 2, you are assigned to demonstrate

the step 2. ▪ “Okay ma’am.”

Group 3, you will present the step 3.

▪ “Copy ma’am.”
Group 4, is assigned to demonstrate the
step 4. ▪ “Yes ma’am.”

And the last group, you are assigned to

demonstrate the last part of the steps. ▪ “Understood ma’am.”

Good job class your demonstration is

amazing.
“Thank you, ma’am,”
G. Finding Practical applications of I will give a scenario class.
concepts and skills
▪For instance, our fabric that we are going
to cut is not press and flatten, what action
do we need to take? ▪ “We need to iron the fabric.”

Okay very good ironing the fabric is the

one way to flatten the fabric.

▪ What will be the result if we placed the

pins incorrectly?
▪ “Pattern pieces should be economically
placed and accurately pinned before
cutting to properly lay out the fabric.”
H. Making generalizations and (The teacher will generalize the lesson by
abstractions about the lesson asking the students.

▪ What are the five (5) steps in preparing ▪Pre-shrinking

the fabrics before cutting? ▪Straightening the fabric
▪Ironing
▪Laying out
▪Transferring Construction marks
▪What kind of processes this five (5)
belongs to? ▪ It belongs to Pre-construction processes.

I. Evaluating Learning l.
Direction:
Look for a partner. Choose one
among those five (5) steps in preparing
the fabrics for cutting and perform it in
front. Decide with your partner who will
able to narrate the procedure and who will
going to act.

You will be rated by the rubrics below:

CRITERIA SCORE
Narrated clearly 5 points
Acted correctly 5 points
Total 10 points

J. Additional activities for application Make a video clip showing the steps of
or remediation pre-construction processes.
The video will long atleast 5 minutes.
