Most Essential Learning Competency

 differentiates intentional injuries from unintentional injuries (H9IS-IVa-d-31)

I. OBJECTIVE
At the end of the lesson, the student will be able to:

a. differentiate intentional injuries from unintentional injuries;


b. value the importance of knowing intentional and unintentional injuries; and
c. perform a role play showing different kinds of intentional injuries and unintentional
injuries.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Intentional and Unintentional injuries


References: Book in HEALTH 9 (Unit 4), page 376
Materials: Laptop, PowerPoint Presentation, Puzzle, Big book, Flip chart, Improvised TV.

III. PROCEDURES

A. Preparation

Instruction: Classify the statements as to whether the Do’s and Don’ts when giving first
aid.

Statement 1: Stay calm.


Statement 2: Give food and drink to an unconscious person.
Statement 3: Reassure and comfort the victim.
Statement 4: Move an injured person unless you need to place him/her in the recovery position.
Statement 5: Loosen any tight clothing.
B. ACTIVITY
TASK 1: Four Pics-One Word!
The teacher will divide the class into three teams for the gameplay.
Directions: You will be given four different pictures and you are expected to provide one word
that describes the four pictures. While the four pictures will serve as your primary clue, you will
also have some scrambled letters to use in forming the required word.

Task 3: Compare me!


Instructions: The teacher will give each team a Cartolina and a marker. Each team will create a
Venn diagram to compare and contrast the difference between intentional and unintentional
injuries. Below the diagram you have to give at least three examples of intentional injuries and
three examples of unintentional injuries. You are only given 3 minutes to do your task and
another 2 minutes to present your work in the class.

Instructions: Read the news headlines/situations below then classify them as to whether they
refer to intentional or unintentional injuries. Paste your answer on the cartolina and report or
present your task in the class. You are only given two minutes to do your task and 1 minute to

Directions: With the same team. Choose one among the examples from intentional or
unintentional injuries and make a role play about it and show how to avoid those injuries. You
will be given 5 minutes to prepare your role play and 2 minutes to present it from the class. Your
score will be based on the scoring rubric below.
