The given pie charts illustrate the share of power consumed by the average Australian household

and also depict the proportion of greenhouse gas emissions that come as a by-product of energy
consumption. The data is calibrated in percentage.

Overall, it can be clearly observed that heating, water heating and other appliances remained at the
top in both sectors. Noticeably, cooling and lighting share the least contribution in the given two
areas.

Analysis of the first chart reveals that more than 40% of power is consumed in heating by the citizens
of Australia. While a difference of 12% is noted in water heating compared to heating. 6% were
registered in the energy consumption of lighting and cooling which accounts for 4% and 2%,
respectively. Other appliances record more than twice that of refrigeration, registering for 15% and
7%, respectively.

Regarding emissions, further analysis of the chart showcases that more than thirty per cent is
accounted for water heating in the greenhouse gas. Less than a fifth is recorded for heating and
eleven per cent for lighting and cooling (8% and 3%, respectively). A similar trend is noted where
with 28% of emissions, other appliances have more than double of refrigeration which accounts for
14%.
