TOPIC: THE ARMOR OF GOD

TEXT: EPH 6: 10-17
AIM: UNDERSTANDING THE ARMOR OF GOD AND ITS USAGE

INTRODUCTION:

The Lord instructs us through the scriptures that we should be strong, and in order to be strong
we must be fully equipped. This is not a fleshly one but one that comes from the power of God’s
might to enable us to withstand the wiles of the devil.
It is a fact that the devil will try his best to attack the children of God (Rev12:12) as he has a
short time.
The Devil lies in wait for believers with his trickery and schemes and we are expected to be
prepared for him ( 2cor 2: 11, Eph 6:13) by standing firm not running away.

Like Jesus said, we will face trials on this earth, temptations will come and tribulations will
come.(John 16: 33, 1 peter 4:12)
The earth is a war zone for believers as our strength will be tested, however we have hope that
we have been destined for victory because Christ has overcome the world.
This encourages us to boldly take up God’s fighting tool for us- The armor of God.

The Armor of God is Paul's analogy to describe the essentials of this fight that we constantly
have as believers- as in prepared soldiers going for war (2tim 2:3-6)
To the ephesian church who practically saw soldiers almost everyday, visualizing this armor and
relating it to the formidable Roman Soldiers will give a hint as to how equipped as a soldier we
ought to be by God’s might in us.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS.

1. What is the Armor of God? Eph 6:13, Rom 13:12

2. Why should we fight using the armor of God?

i To enable us withstand and stand firm
ii To walk in our destined victory
iii To subdue the devil

3. What happens if we don’t fight?

i We give the devil the chance to thrive in our lives
ii. We are unable to withstand in the evil day
iii We find it easy to walk in the flesh
iv We fall into sin and the devil’s schemes
v Our strength becomes weak

Conclusion:
Putting on the whole armor of God is an instruction for every believer if we are successfully
going to carry out God’s mandate for us here on earth.
The devil is on the run to devour the believer and we must not be ignorant, we must stand firm.
