If the surface is painted, it must be kept clean and well maintained.

So must the magnet

surface. All grit, metal particle and burrs must be removed.

When mounted on clean, flat surfaces, sometime the machine surface itself is not flat, so if
the flat magnet were attached directly to the machine surface it would not have a good
connection – there is also the problem of the paint on the machine surface. (prefer to
remove the paint if possible ).
For AMG machine
1- Main Engine - Cummins QSK-60

This is V- 16 cylindrical 4strock engine so ISO 10816-6 will be used as shown below

Because it is small engine, measurement should be taken on NDE and DE .

Three scenario could be done :

a. put 2 sensors on the engine side at crankshaft level as show below

b. put 2 sensors on the engine top as show below

c. put one sensor on the engine top and the other on the side. All depends on the site and
the possibility of mounting the sensor on rigid surface and good mechanical transmission
path.

2. Auxillary Engine - Caterpillar C18

This is inline 6 cylinder 4strock engine so ISO 10816-6 will be used as shown below
Because it is small engine, measurement should be taken on NDE and DE .

Three scenario could be done :

a. put 2 sensors on the engine side at crankshaft level as show below

b. put 2 sensors on the engine top as show below

3. Air Compressor - Sperre XA060

Iso 10816-8 for V-type reciprocating compressors

Two sensors on the motor DE and NDE ( don’t put the sensor on fins or cooling fan covers )

Two sensors on the compressor pistons
