World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is an independent conservation organization

active in nearly 100 countries. The main objective for the organization are working to sustain
the natural world for the benefit of people and wildlife. WWF was founded in Morges,
Switzerland since 29 April 1961 to conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to
the diversity of life on Earth. WWF aims to work with slogan “For nature, For people,
Forever”. WWF works to help local communities conserve the natural resources they depend
upon, transform markets and policies toward sustainability and protect, restore species and
their habitats. WWF connects cutting-edge conservation science with the collective power of
their partners in the field, more than one million supporters in the United States and five
million globally, as well as partnerships with communities, companies, and governments. The
six ambitious goal that focused by WWF are climate, food, forests, freshwater, ocean and
wildlife.

From the information of the poster, most of the people will acknowledge that the
poster was created by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to raise awareness campaign for
people to help protect marine biodiversity by adopting habits that minimise the use of plastic.
The overview of the design principle in the poster is there are a lot of plastic bags floating in
the blue sea which seems similar as the jellyfish. We can seem that all of them are the plastic
bags but a turtle don’t. The plastic in our seas is killing thousand of sea turtles and other
marine life each year, as they often mistake it for food. At the corner of the poster, there is a
WWF logo and website on it while when we can notice that there are some information
writen on the poster. The font that used for this poster is San Serif typeface which can express
the information more clearly without fancy design. The largest word writen on the poster is
the number “100000” which represent the number of the death for the marine life cause by
the platic bag. We can know this information also by the explaination below the number
“100000”. Under the explaination, there are two sentences which are bold up to make the
sentences more seriously and grab the audience’s attention. The first sentence is to ask people
to tied a plastic bag over their head in every minute, WWF will donate $5 towards cleanup
efforts. For the second bolded sentence is to ask people to spread this charity and challenge
with hastag “#plasticbagchallenge” to raise more fund to clean up the sea and protect marine
life.

Unfortunally, this was a fake poster distributed on 4Chan to encourage people to

undertake the Plastic Bag Challenge. The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has
condemned the "outrageous" Plastic Bag Challenge, which is an online game that claims to
be raising cash for the charity but is in fact "designed to kill". WWF claimed that in their
official website state that WWF is not involved in any such campaign, challenge or with any
associated posters or artwork and condemns the irresponsibility of suggesting people
undertake life endangering actions for any reason. WWF also indicate that there are still
many other legitimate ways for them to protect the environment and appeal for people to not
re-share it, and to reply that it's a dangerous hoax.

In my opinion, the overall design of the poster can bring out the message to audience
to raise their awareness to reduce the usage of plastic bags and the importance of protect the
marine life. The element use such as plastic bags figurative as the jelly fish, sentences such as
the number “100000” used bring out the seriousness of the pollution and the explaination
below the number send out the message to the audience clearly. The only mistake are the
bolded sentence which bring out the wrong content for this poster lead to endanger of
human’s life. Although the poster seems to be an official charity and helping to save our
marine life is important, but people need to aware and should not do it blindly with the weird
challenges to help our wildlife and environment. People need to There are still a lot of actual
way to protect our earth.
