What is Microsoft Excel environment?

Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet editor developed by


Microsoft for Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and
iPadOS. It features calculation or computation
capabilities, graphing tools, pivot tables, and a macro
programming language called Visual Basic for
Applications (VBA).

PARTS AND FUNCTIONS.

1. Control buttons are used to perform a click event in


Windows Forms, and it can be clicked by a mouse or by
pressing Enter keys.

2. Dialog box launcher is a very little down arrow that is


present in the lower-right corner of a command group on
the Ribbon.
3. Formula bar permits us to observe, insert or edit the
information/formula entered in the active cell.

4. The Name Box is located to the left of the formula bar


and displays the cell address of the active cell.Name box.
Show the location of the active cell, row, or column.

5. Quick Access Toolbar This toolbar is located in the


upper left corner of the screen. Its objective is to show the
most frequently used Excel commands.

6. Ribbon tabs include Home, Insert, Page Layout,


Formula, Data. They organize related commands; the
name of each group is displayed below the Ribbon.

7. Scrollbars are the tools that enable us to move the


document's vertical and horizontal views.

8. The title bar of the spreadsheet is at the top of the


window.
9. Columns are a vertically ordered series of boxes across
the full sheet. This column bar is located below the
formula bar.

10. Rows are cells that parallelepipeds that divide the


spreadsheet into many pieces, separating rows and
columns.

11. Spreadsheet Area ; rows, cells, columns, and ; built-in


data in the spreadsheet.

12. The status bar is present at the bottom of the window


that displays critical information.

TABS AND RIBBONS

The Excel ribbon tabs. There are nine tabs on the Excel
Ribbon: File, Home, Insert, Page Layout, Formulas, Data,
Review, View, and Help.
CELL BASIC AND FORMATTING

Formatting in Excel means a trick that we can use to


modify the data's appearance in a worksheet.

Cell formats allow you to change the way cell data


appears in the spreadsheet. It is important to keep in mind
that it only alters the way the data is presented, and does
not change the value of the data.

WORKING WITH DATA

Analyze Data in Excel empowers you to understand your


data through natural language queries that allow you to
ask questions about your data without having to write
complicated formulas. In addition, Analyze Data provides
high-level visual summaries, trends, and patterns.

INSERTING FORMULA
1. Select a cell.

2. Type the equal sign =.

Note: Formulas in Excel always begin with the equal sign.

3. Select a cell or type its address in the selected cell.

4. Enter an operator. For example, – for subtraction.

5. Select the next cell, or type its address in the selected


cell.

6. Press Enter. The result of the calculation appears in the


cell with the formula.
