MANUAL FOR CONDUCTING SITE TRIALS FOR CONCRETE ADMIXTURE
Date : 28th November 2023
#A. FOR CONDUCTING FRESH TRIALS
Mandatory Steps Details Responsible Team / Person
1. Check and Understand Technical requirement (Refer - PIF Sheet)
2. Check Sand Gradation and also keep a record on the back of trial sheet along with all the relevent details of
Cement like - Grade, Plant Location, type of Cement, Brand, Week of manufacture
3. Check & ensure to keep all Raw materials ready at the trial site for at least 6 - 7 round of trials
4. Check Sand Moisture, absorption, silt content (by volume).- No trials to be initated, if moisture > 5%
Preparatory Work
5. Check coarse aggregate gradation like size & shape
(Step : 1 -9)
6. Check mix design based on given specific gravity and adjust the same based on moisture and absorptions of
aggregates
7. Cross check calculation of batch size
8. Check batch weight and take all ingredient according to the same
9. Make Product carefully and mix it well for a homogeneous mix or pre-formualted sample from Lab
10. Prime the Pan (with water in case of clean pan mixture OR with Slurry in case of drum mixture / ribbon
mixture)
11. Add all concrete ingredient (Refer step 8) and add full quantity of water
12. Mix well and observe the mix (tentative control slump)
13. Please observe - Drum type mixer takes more time to disperse (say 10 - 20 min depending on the grade of
concrete) & Pan mixer will take 5 - 6 min Respective Technical Person
Execution 14. Add Admixture to achieve initial slump (in most of the cases it is collapse)
(Step : 10 - 19) 15. Prime the slump cone with water and take slump
16. Put the concrete back into mixture and mix for 10 sec to maintain homogeneity & recover complete concrete
slurry back to pan mixer
17. Repeat after desired retention interval
18. Every 15 -20 min interval time keep mixing for 30 to 40 sec till retention period
19. Keep the mixture covered with wet gunny bag to maintain concrete temperature and record the temperature
at regular interval
20. Check cube dimension and put cubes in line after applying right amount of shuttering oil (any cube which is out
of shape or dimension should not be used)
21. Cast cubes as per codal regulation (3 layers// 35 strocks)
Closing Activity 22. Always check concrete fresh wet density in cube moulds & compare theoretical density to ensure density of
(Step : 20 -25) concrete. In case of discrepancy please consult with team
23. Be present till the cubes are finished and marked
24. Update all trials details in Chryso standard format & take customer signature & publish the report
25. Check setting next day and ensure submersing of cubes for later days strength.
#B. FOR TRIAL CONTINUATION
1. Check - Week of Manufacturing of Cement, Sand gradation and compare with previous data captured
If same person is continuing 2. If gradation varies consult with team
Respective Technical Person
trials after a gap 3. Discuss with customer on any change in technical requirements
4. Based on above, initiate trials as per steps mentioned in #A

1. He should get every details like - Raw materials observations, mix design details, technical requirements, used
formulations details before commencing
If other person is visiting and Respective Technical Person /
2. Check - Week of Manufacturing of Cement, Sand gradation and compare with previous data captured
continuing trials Reliver (Joint Resp)
3. If Aggregate gradation or any other variation is observed, must consult with team before starting trials
4. Based on above, initiate trials as per steps mentioned in #A
#C. FOR COMPARISION TRIAL
1. Discuss with concered QC at site regarding complaint & analyse the same
2. Cross - check batch size of concrete and then calculate the concrete RM quantity
3. Collect cement for two trials & mix well
4. Similarly collect all the aggregate and SCM and mix well
Comparision Trials Respective Technical Person
5. All raw materials should be same for both the trials
6. Collect admixture sample from new sealed barrel
7. Keep master sample or freshly prepared sample ready (if master sample not available)
8. Based on above, initiate trials as per steps mentioned in #A
