DAMNED
SPOT!
An adaptation of William
Shakespeare’s Macbeth…
A Dance Theater production
based on Kathak, Traditional
Indian Theater methodology, and
constructed on Contemporary
Dance theater ideologies.
In Sudip’s words:
Humans have always been ambitious! Be it for passion, position or
Power! And that is why we have always been conditioned in a
certain way, that surprisingly ends up with an ironic twist! Hence the
series of event leads us up to the same conclusion over and
over again! Traditional Scriptures addressed it in a more simplified
manner; “We will have many lifetimes for learning the same lessons
over and over again until it's inked in our soul! And sets us free!”
So my Macbeth takes birth over and over and over again! Fated for
the same tragedy! As all of us are!
In my teens, when I was in love with someone, I used to read a lot of
literature to impress them! And Sir Shakespeare was one of them!
And being influenced by his style of writing I wrote something that
didn't mean much at the moment until I grew up a little more and
experienced the world differently!
I wrote "Thou understandth o' moon what it means to be a human.
Uncertain, Alone, created by imperfections.."
I believe I was more sensitive then, than now. Now all I have is
questions:
*The 'Some', amongst us, those who think they are pure, righteous,
fair! And have a certain conviction for life, Are we...?
* That unfulfillable hunger for
power, and authority over something that creeps in us and we try so
much to impose, is that really necessary?
* Why is really our world burning?
