Subject: Report on Sundas Foundation Blood Donation Camp at International Islamic

University

I am writing to provide a comprehensive report on the successful blood donation camp organized
by Sundas Foundation at the International Islamic University on October 18, 2023. The event took
place in the open area between Block-1 and Block-2, and it was a remarkable demonstration of the
dedication and community spirit of the Department of Civil Engineering (DCE) students, faculty,
and staff.
Background:
The Sundas Foundation, a well-established charitable organization, reached out to the male campus
of International Islamic University (IIU) Islamabad with a unique and vital request. They not only
organized a blood donation and collection campaign but also combined it with an informative
awareness session on Thalassemia disease.
Thalassemia is a hereditary blood disorder that requires a lifelong commitment to treatment.
Recognizing the significant burden it places on affected families, the Sundas Foundation has been
providing free-of-cost treatment and support to patients hailing from various regions, including
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, SWAT, KPK, FATA, AJK, and more. This commendable initiative by
Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET) aligns with the Foundation's mission to ensure that
no patient faces financial obstacles in accessing the necessary care.
The combination of blood donation and Thalassemia awareness is a testament to the Sundas
Foundation's holistic approach to healthcare, emphasizing not only treatment but also the
prevention and understanding of blood-related conditions. This dual-purpose event was a
remarkable opportunity for the DCE community at IIU to contribute to this noble cause while
learning about the significance of early diagnosis and treatment for Thalassemia patients.
The collaborative effort between the Sundas Foundation and IIU's male campus serves as a shining
example of how organizations can come together to create a healthier and more informed
community.
Participation:
The blood donation camp witnessed an overwhelming response from the DCE community,
including both students and faculty members. Their active participation played a crucial role in the
camp's success. The breakdown of participants was as follows:

Event Details:
The blood donation camp was meticulously organized, adhering to all safety and health protocols.
It was conducted in the open area between Block-1 and Block-2, ensuring accessibility and
visibility for all interested donors.
Achievements:
The event resulted in several achievements:
• The inclusion of a Thalassemia awareness session proved highly informative and impactful.
Participants, including DCE students and faculty, gained a deeper understanding of the
challenges faced by Thalassemia patients and the importance of early diagnosis and
treatment. This increased awareness is an essential step towards reducing the prevalence of
Thalassemia through informed choices.
• The event saw a surge in donations to support Thalassemia patients in Islamabad,
Rawalpindi, SWAT, KPK, FATA, AJK, and other regions. These contributions will
provide much-needed relief to affected families by ensuring they receive free-of-cost
treatment and support from the Sundas Foundation. This tangible support is a testament to
the empathy and generosity of the IIU community.
• A significant number of blood donations were collected, which will undoubtedly contribute
to saving numerous lives.
• It showcased the exceptional commitment and social responsibility of the DCE community
at the International Islamic University.
• The event's success created awareness about the importance of regular blood donations and
encouraged others to take part in such noble initiatives.
• The Sundas Foundation expressed their deep appreciation for the proactive involvement of
our institution and specifically the DCE department.
Challenges:
While the event was largely successful, there were a few challenges, including the need for better
crowd management and potentially increasing the number of medical professionals for smoother
and quicker processing in future events.
Recommendations:
In light of the above challenges, we recommend the following for future events:
1. Enhanced crowd management and coordination.
2. Additional medical professionals to ensure efficient handling of donors.
