LO1 Booklet
 Project Concept.

• For my short film I want to highlight all different types of television productions from
kids shows too sitcoms and sports cementations. I aim to have a wide range of
different “tv channels” highlighting different types of television in the past and the
different styles with the genres and conventions of the tv productions. I will be
focused on making it stereotypical with having cheesy conventions of certain
genres, for example having a happy presenter and keeping everything educational. I
also hope to be able to be more creative with my editing trying to tackle different
types of editing such as improving my green screen, a news broadcast, and an intro
to a sitcom. I will make sure to make surveys of which Tv program I should be
focused on as there are so many it will be hard to narrow them down to what makes
a tv channel list so I will try and get feedback on my different ideas throughout.
Another aspect I will focus on is the time period of the production as now a
days people don’t really watch Tv as much, so I need to do some research on not
just Tv programs but also Tv programs in a certain times such as the early 2010’s to
have it make more sense.

• In my previous work i never documented any changes i made in thing such

as ideas or concepts i just changed things and left them however this time
i want to keep in my old finding and anything that i have added and
highlight them in red. For example, if i decide to change from doing a kids
show to a cooking video rather than delete all the work for the kids show i
will highlight it in red and make sure that its clearly stated that it is an old
idea to better show my thought process. I feel that by doing this it lessens
my tunnel vision on my projects and makes me see the bigger picture
rather than just focusing on one idea. At the end of my project i will take on
board all criticisms and see were i could have done better for my chances
to go into the next year taking all feedback in ready for my last year which
should showcase all my skills that i would have learnt.

or half assed it so for this production just like every other time I will try harder
to get my production and the written work in on time with all the necessary
things done to a higher standard. Throughout I’ve found that I like to do a lot
of different genres from romance to horror to comedy so my final project I
would like to use all my knowledge of different genres. I always watched
different types of films so my previous knowledge of genres and stereotypes
and what I know now through my research will make my idea original with all
the different type of production in one. The thing I want to focus on long term
is trying to make my website look more unique and put more time and effort
into making everything look more unique and not as I have just put all my
schoolwork on different pages.

Submission Timeline:
- Entries Open | 1 December 2023
- Regular Deadline | 31 May 2024

- The Official Selection will be announced 31 August 2024
- The live edition of Aesthetica takes place in the York, UK from 6-10 November
2024
- On Demand service will be available via our virtual festival platform from 6-10
November 2024. This is a ticketed platform.
- Winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on Sunday 10 November
2024.
Submission Guidelines:
- Short films should have a maximum running time of 30 minutes.
- Feature films are considered to have a runtime of 60 minutes or over. Films of medium
length that do not qualify as shorts may be considered as features in some cases, but please
contact the team at asff@aestheticamagazine.com
- For 360 films, please ensure that your work is compatible with Oculus Go headsets as well
as cardboard headsets. Please provide a downloadable link to your project as an mp4 file.
- For VR and Immersive experiences, please provide a link to a fully build of the project.
Please also include a setup reader and full technical requirements. We do not supply any
additional equipment beyond headsets and VR laptops.
- All films in languages other than English must have burnt in subtitles.
- Your entry form must include your name, address, telephone number and email so that we
can contact you.
- Your film must not be in breach of any copyright, including music or sound used in your film.
- The link to your video included in your submission form must not expire. Please check that
the link is working.
- We do not have a premiere requirement. We will accept submissions of films that have
previously screened elsewhere, including at other festivals.
- There are no completion date requirements, but films completed in the two years prior to the
festival are preferred.
- The festival does not grant fee waivers under any circumstances.
• " Supporting and Championing Film & Screen Culture
We are looking for filmmakers who are driving film forward through
inspirational and innovative works. Whether you are an established or
emerging practitioner, we want to see your work.
We are also looking for developers and coders to submit games for our
new Games Lab as we expand our reach to recognize talent across
film, games and XR.
We accept submissions of short films across 12 categories as well as
narrative and documentary features, VR, immersive and 360 films, as
well as games.
The Official Selection will be shown in 10 venues across York, UK from
6-10 November 2024 and showcased on our online platform from 6-30
November 2024. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your
work to an international audience of filmmakers, industry delegates
and film fans.
Submissions are final and subject to a no refund policy.
- All submissions are watched in their entirety and given the full attention of our
team of programmers. The date of submission has no reflection on our selection
decisions.
If your work is selected:
- We do not cover licensing or screening fees for selected projects, as films are in
competition and have been submitted to us.
- The 2024 festival will be a hybrid event, with selected films available online via our
closed platform from 6-30 November. Access to this is international and as
standard, we will not geo-block content. If you are selected to screen at ASFF and
require geo- blocking, please inform the team and we can set this up for you.
- All films in the English language are provided with a correctly formatted subtitle file
(.srt) to ensure that all content is accessible.
- We retain the right to use stills, trailers and excerpts of your work for the purposes
of promotions, including the festival trailer, filmmaker interviews and social media
posts.
Technical Specifications:
Should your film be selected to screen at Aesthetica Film Festival 2024, there are
specific technical requirements the screening copy of your film must meet. Please

The deadline for the short film competition and for when I
should have finished a line perfectly with school being
June 7 which means that I will be able to
participate. Sadly, there is an entry fee of $35 however I do
have a job and do feel strongly about my chances of winning.
