INTASC Standard #6: Assessment.

The teacher understands and uses multiple methods of assessment to engage learners in
their own growth, to monitor learner progress, and to guide the teacher’s and learner’s decision
making.
Reflection and Rationale:
These two artifacts are quizzes that I have used in my classroom. The first one is an exit
ticket. It was designed to be a quick and easy way for me to gauge how the class has understood
the lesson and whether or not there are areas of that lesson where the students seem to struggle. It
helps me to be able to identify student weaknesses and address them in a timely manner. The
second artifact is a module quiz that is designed to test the student’s capabilities in the material
and demonstrate their understanding of the subject. It relies on testing at a variety of levels.
Notice question three that requires the student to explain the concept using vocabulary. These
two artifacts demonstrate my use of assessments in the classroom to monitor student progress
and guide my future lessons and emphasis in the classroom.
